Yes, they take the risks, even if family are separated, for a chance of an improved live in American. Again, that speak to their desperation. It also tell you that family separation is likely not a deterrent. And I again will point out that how they choose to make their trip isn't reason / excuse / validation that we can separate children from family once they cross the border. That is a choice in our control. As medical professionals have stated, it doesn't matter how shinny the facility are, it's the separation that cause lasting emotional damage.
Okay that is your conjecture. The reality is that DACA only applies to people who entered before 2012.
I think beside the horrific actions of our government that were reported this week... the other important takeaway was the depth of the lies the American people had been fed.
I have seen stubbornness used as a tactic, but never to this degree. If you knew this was my "conjecture" why would you then say "DACA is a not a selling point for current people contemplating crossing the border unless they are being lied to which I doubt he have any evidence of"? I ask because my "conjecture" is that DACA is a selling point - they are looking for their own deferred action.
The telling sign is that Honduras, a country rarely known as a source of asylum applications, is now a major source of asylum applications. MS-13? Cartels? Or DACA? What is even more strange is that the Honduran murder rate has been dropping for quite some time, and it even dropped last year. Again: data. Try acting like adults, folks.
DACA has been the single biggest explanation for the current rise in asylum applications to the US. Murder rates have gone done in some Central American countries.
