1000s of black kids will be separated from their families in 2018 because their mothers will be incarcerated. The time that they are separated will be exponentially greater. Why isn't this policy causing outrage? These american kids deserve better. Could it be that the democrats already have the black vote locked up?

Keep on moving those goal posts. This conversation requires far more nuance. If they are legitimate asylrm seekers, let them stay. If we are unsure, keep the familes together in a facility untill a decision is made. If these familes are have a legitmate home to go back to where their life isn't threatened send them back together. But keep moving those goal posts. Again you are referring to prison sentences. That's when parents get seperated. Prison sentences are usually allocated for violent criminals or repeat offenders. The ones who don't fall into those categories such as some drug possession charges absolutely don't deserve prison time and there isn't a single liberal on this message board who hasn't been outspoken about non violent prison sentences. So we are being consistent. And equating families that are running from hardship that the majoirty of people who b**** about them as "criminals" have never experienced is lacking in basic human empathy and bordering psycopathy.

It doesn't but the non citizens seem to get the attention. Even when obama was locking up immigrant families, the minorities citizens were overlooked. Would a 10 year old with Down Syndrome be separated from her mother if her mother was detained for another violation of the law pending trial if there was no other next of kin to take the child? locking up criminals and giving law enforcement the capability to be tough on crime is a good thing. 1992 had 1063 homicides in LA, and we are down to 271 in 2017.

Actually we don't stick people in prison or jail for most offenses unless they are a threat to society determined by the judge (or if you are too poor and cant afford bail which is a practice every lib is consistent on and has goigut against for a while). And I don't think a family who thinks that life is so bad where they currently are and has a desire to move to a better place without being in a wait list that takes 15 years is of neferious enough intent to separate a parent and a child. Because it is a mentally disabled child being forcibly removed from her mother for a violation that really did no harm to anyone. Whether you think that’s an appropriate response on our side against people who are desperate to make a better life for themselves and their children is one thing. Being so callous as to think it’s not a big deal and making a “wom wom” noise about it is another thing.
