That.... is a very strange lineup. Yuli at 3rd, White at 1st, Breg at 2nd, and Marwin in LF. If they were gonna go this right heavy, choosing to sit Altuve in this particular game really required some lineup contortion.
I was saying this to a friend. Seemed like a possible deal or a possible showcase? Now José Abreu rumors. I know not a lot to go off of, but just saying.
I know I know. Just seems a little strange tonight for some reason to me. Most likely nothing at all.
is the implication that we're showing off white and getting Yulli used to more versatility or something? what does the rest of the lineup have to do with trading for abreu? i'm lost.
It’s not just the lineup, just felt a bit strange to me. No the Astros never really surprise me with anything they do. Just felt like more than a different lineup to me, but like I said, it’s probably nothing. I thought the tweet was worth posting only because of the talk on MLB Network. I usually will not post something unless it’s from a credible source. Of course talk is just talk.
cool just wondering, didn't know if i was missing something. i meant to add getting yulli and bregs to more versatility. i'd be really curious to see how our lineup would shake out w someone like abreu on board... you'd almost be guaranteed to have a legit bat on the bench every game. the versatility would be ridiculous. anyways... let's go ahead and break that win streak record tonight. not ultra concerned w abreu.
My only real issue with that lineup is the continued forcing of Jake into the lineups. I don’t care if it’s a LHP or what, Jake is simply not good. Kemp in the 9 hole has been such a breath of fresh air
The fact is that the Astros have the ability to try some interesting things given how good they are. Regular season, although important, is more of a tune up for them with this roster. They can still compete (and mostly win) while experimenting and that is extremely valuable.
If there was a in house alternative that was 90% as good as a defender, as well as good with the bat, then the answer would be more simple. Until that guy arrives though, your trading defense for offense by replacing Jake. My guess is the that Astros are willing to make one major move sometime this year. If that is true, id hesitate to make it replacing Jake. We may very well have a much greater need as the trade deadline approaches. Too far away to make that one move now, especially since the offense has started working. Jake has been pitiful. No doubt. But I like the idea of keeping that card in our hand for now until we see how things play out a little further.
