The #1 incentive for illegals or visa overstayers to migrate from wherever is chain babies. No way around it, no other reason comes close. It's a lot cheaper and much more effective than a wall - which I have no doubt illegals would find a way around (or dig under, an area of Mexican expertise).

Sounds like a great idea from Cruz. Tons of new illegal alien criminals need processing so double the judges, increase funding for the cages, stop children from getting special treatment and keep them in the same cages, get them out of the country asap.
Do you people realize how idiotic many of you appear echoing the liberal media by saying there's no law dictating this? There are laws dictating this. Previous administrations (and this one up until a couple of months ago) simply chose not to enforce the law. Illegal entry into this country is a crime. Those with children were not being prosecuted, in effect, giving them free entry into the United States. The problem got bad enough this spring that the Trump administration was forced to begin actual enforcement of the law. You commit a crime, you should be prosecuted. People saying Trump could end this with a phone call. Sure he could, by going back to not prosecuting invading illegals so long as they had children with them. It's called open borders. And it's what a lot of you want.
What should he have done? Allow tens of thousands, soon to be hundreds of thousands, of illegals unfettered entry into this country with no repercussions on a monthly basis? Do you realize just how much illegal border crossings have spiked once migrants and traffickers picked up on how impotent catch and release is? This was absolutely necessary, and to reverse course now would essentially be going to open borders.
Easy problem to fix, just dump the separation bullet point. Then this is just additional staff and cages. Debate and compromise creates consensus.
