You know you are talking about ancient history right? I mean your view of the Lakers as a franchise is adorable and all, but all they really are now is just a good franchise to use for leverage....they aren't a franchise players actually want to play for and haven't been since Kobe became Kobe which is why they never land any big name FA's and guys like Dwight Howard who get stuck there end up walking when they get the chance. Hell if you look at recent history, the Clippers have been the better of the 2 LA franchises.
this is completely overblown. no the biggest names do not want to just play for LA just bc. thats why ever since kobe left, LA has gotten nobody. but every offseason it was the lakers were going to get this player and that. then LA ends up with the likes of brook lopez. scrubs. unless you actually have a good team to work with, guys will sign with you. other than that, you can hold you breath on that franchise story all you want. doesn't really matter. 16 championship franchise, being repped by two kids going at it with twitter beef and rap songs. Just great representation. #notreally
true, but I think CP3 is the biggest draw for him here this is just my opinion, but I don’t think we’d even be on his radar if CP3 wasn’t here, and CP3 just so happens to be the biggest question mark regarding our future success
Lebron has 2 sons basically at/entering the age where they'll remember these moments for the rest of their life, plus a wife and young daughter. He's won 3 rings. He's made 8 straight Finals and 9 overall. Rings will obviously still be important for him, but it'd be insane to not think he's putting his family at or near the top of his decision list. Sure, CP3 also as a comparison has young sons. They're a "little" younger at least (9 and 6) and for whatever reasons they've done the LA thing and we're good leaving. And much more important and specifically... CP3 doesn't have the career and legacy defining accolades that Lebron does. IMO, I think Lebron's family nixed Houston (which is fine), and Lebron wasn't interested in living separately from them for 9 months a year.
Whatever makes you sleep at night buddy, whatever makes you sleep at night. Bytheway, to return to the topic: I have no idea why do you guys want LeBron when he never was a realistic chance for the Rockets (mostly because of money and the location). Your main priority should be Jimmy Butler who would really give this Rockets team a dimension they didn't have so far. There is also the problem of the bench that you should look into. Anderson is trash and Ariza is probably gone so that leaves you with who? EG, Tucker, Luc and Green? Not enough.
couldn't careless about LA. They'll still be terrible for many more years to come until they can get an actual franchise player theres nothing that says Lebron isn't a possibility. Until Lebron flat out is a member of another team or comes out and says Houston is not an option then hes very much in play.
Well for sure, and the fact that he's here likely makes Houston his number 1 option but he has to pretend he's interested in LA to get the leverage to force a trade.
I wonder - - how much is actually known by FO powers that be as to LBJ's 'plans'? I do not believe there is an internal vacuum; just an external one. Bronny-the-Elder has to have communicated with George and/or Kawli and/or anyone else he wants to bring with him wherever he wants bringing brought.
the Lakers have been slowly turning their rep around...having a well respected, charismatic legend like Magic there definitely helps they’re not the joke that they’d been the last couple of years, but their organization isn’t touching what the Rockets have going on right now
Lebron rather have a cheaper cut of steak with more Sizzle.. going to the Lakers is more Sizzle... going to the Rockets would be the first time that it's not his team...
I think the Lakers are more gristle than sizzle.....but the cheap, inedible steak would be served on a really nice table with very comfortable chairs.
CP3 potentially doing his part to sell the LA hype in order to get the leverage for Lebron to force a trade.
It could very well be a power play by CP3 and LeBron to ensure that CP3 gets the most money from the Rockets. CP3 could be feeling disrespected by the offers Morey has put out there, and this is a way to get the Rockets to pony up. And yes, in the process, drum up enough of a threat from LA and Philly to entice the Cavs into dealing with us.
Not really. If the Rockets can't get Lebron then it makes it less likely for them to offer the max to CP3. The only way he gets the max is if Lebron comes here and the team is set for the next several years.
I think part of that is CP3 helping land Lebron. I'm not sure CP3 is worth the max if he can't bring Lebron here.
