That is simply a lie. There were ports of entry, vetting, and documentation. It was not a free for all. I have uncovered admittance/landing documents for nearly all of my foreign ancestors dating back to the early 1800's. Ancestry.com has a trove of information.

What is your proposed solution? What would you say if meth dealing parents were separated from their children? These are adult parents and adults are held accountable for their actions. Why did they have kids they could not afford in the first place? Then knowingly jeopardized safety of their family. I do not want to separate parents from their kids, but the parents commit actions that leave a law abiding society with no choice. The kids still stay in better places than their parents could have legally or illegally provided (detention centers).
As usual, the billionaire trophy wife has a lot to complain and the shame policy makers about, but offers no solution. This has nothing to do with right or left, both sides have enough incompetency. This has to do with proposing a solution to tastefully enforce laws or keeping your mouth shut.
Stop blaming the victims. The only people responsible for the cruelty to the children are those that initiated and carried out the policy of being cruel to children. Whether or not they should have children, to begin with, is a different issue. My solution would be to stop separating children from their parents. It isn't difficult. Meth dealing parents would be tried before any sort of separation. The children would be allowed to visit their parents. The children would be housed with other family members such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, adult siblings, etc. The situation of American citizen criminals and illegal immigrants aren't the same at all and aren't really comparable.
People want to complain and rile up each others emotions to feel close, but your the only one whos offered a solution based on facts. Get the message through to illegals - you will pay the consequences for your actions. If illegal immigration as a whole is curtailed, legal immigration jumps to much higher quotas, and economists are all too aware that the us will need more and more low cost labor (legal levels) to feed their population growth. Disagree when you say merit based, as its low wage labor that America will need the most from Mexico and central America going forward. They cant really compete in white collar jobs with immigrants from China, India and Europe.
Except that it ignores the actual facts. Most illegal immigrants arrive via the airport. They overstay their visas. This policy doesn't stop the main influx of illegal immigrants. This policy hasn't been shown to stop an influx of illegal immigration at all. The solution is to stop the cruelty. Stop separating children from their families. We've stopped illegals and deported them for many decades without separating parents from their children. The solution is very easy. Stop the policy of cruelty.
This goes back to my proposed solution- only US citizens can give birth to US citizens. Paperwork and DNA testing will be needed to verify. Simple, humane and deters the anchor baby immigrants. This policy has been in effect for a very little time. No conclusions can be drawn on how effective it is, but I cant feel sympathy for grown adults who put their children in risk. The idea of blaming victims is ridiculous. Imagine I have a roommate and I don't like his poster, so I tell him that I chop off his pinky while he sleeps if doesn't take the poster down. The roommate doesn't remove the poster from his wall so I chop off his pinky in his sleep. Is it the roommate's fault knowingly putting his pinky at risk? They've been deported in record numbers since the Obama administration and continuing in this administration.
Sigh. Illegal immigration has been falling precipitously. Deportations have been growing for 20 years. If you don't like illegal immigrants in America, things were really going your way. The problem was trending the right way. There is no need for this screwed up, anti-American, anti-family horseshit, and you, you secondary account, know this. Not here to go round in circles with pointless analogies. We need long term game plans and a detailed understanding of what illegal children are capable of. Deported in record numbers after arriving in record numbers doesn't mean much, does it? It's all desperation that can be avoided if they are educated on birth control- that would help the host nation as well.
Deportations have been growing because immigration from illegals has exploded. How are these people supporting their families? Are they better off as exploited by large food corporations that use them to pick fruits and vegetables for below minimum wage? What is the life for their kids realistically like, and I dont mean the lebron james exception who ends up being a valedictorian. Are you opposed to increasing quotas of legal immigrants? Nice parroting of a talking point but that's simply not true. If it were, we wouldn't be seeing these large numbers of separated children at the southern border would we? And we wouldn't need the additional judges and detention centers at the southern border. If most illegal immigrants were the result of visa overstays, then we should be seeing very little crossing activity on our southern border. Yet it's higher now than when Trump took office.
