I think OKC would be hard capped too so not sure what the salaries would add up to be but no deal on this if it’s over $129m total for the team.
Kelvin Cato wouldn't have shot any worse from 3 than Trevor Ariza did in game 7....even if we're talking about the 43 year old Kelvin Cato of today.
I don’t think Lebron likes Houston >> his family likes LA >> from what I been reading and it all okay. When Ariza was out the team still was fine. I think it’s time to say to Ariza thank you for your service and move on. I don’t have the name of the player we should go to but DMtheGM does or will.
If the Rockets are going to max out Chris Paul, what difference does it make to you as a fan if Ariza gets a big contract? The Rockets cap situation will be murky for at least a few years either way.
No looks like a guy in his 30’s that knows this is going to be his last shot at making the kind of money that will need to last him and his family half a century and if you count his kids, seventy or eighty years. He should try to get as much as he can in his circumstances. I want him back but I completely understand what he is trying to do.
Maybe, just because he asks for it doesn’t mean he will get it or the Rockets won’t pay him. Time will tell.... just whatever happens here on out, I have a lot of respect for Trevor Ariza as a player and as a man. He has been very good for the Rockets and has done everything asked of him.
he isnt going anywhere. He is going to ask for the most. We will lowball. We will finalize the team for next year and then we will compromise sign him. Either A) We give him the annual he wants on a couple years or B) we will give him less for more years Its called negotiation. Hes not going to say he wants XX amount which is the lowest he will accept. SMH We arent letting an asset we have rights to just walk. That would be stupid. Hes friends with CP3, He has been the biggest bargain in the nba for years. He has earned and deserves a reasonable contract and morey will give it to him. Its not like he isnt going to be moveable if we had too. We are over the cap and can sign him to whatever tillman has allowed in luxury tax. This move would affect nothing.
I have the most respect for Ariza as well. He has been the ultimate professional for the Rockets. He recruited CP3 to come to Houston last year. But to ask for $10 to $12 mil yr is a no-go when the team is pressed for money while trying aggressively to move Ryan Anderson to make room for LeBron contract plus CP3 contract plus Capela soon to be contract pay day. Take a look at the present team payroll and tell me how the Rockets are going to pull all this money out of their ***? Not happpening.
If we dont get lebron we have to have ariza so your point is moot. They are going to be in luxury tax. He is going to retain the team. If lebron gets added someone has to go. Thats anderson/gordon via the trade to get lebron in the first place. Morey has already said they are going to retain our players. We arent changing the team unless lebron joins. They have said tillman signed on knowing the team will get very expensive. I.E. He already knew he was going to be in luxury tax mode. We have avoided the luxury tax threshold wisely now we can go 3 years without any repeater tax. Ariza is so important to what we do.
