Really? I always had the feeling he would be back. I never even doubted his free agency and his desire to return.

I hate how Ariza runs so hot and cold with clutchfans. The dude has been vital to this teams success. I hate that he wont get that contract he wants but Id be more than happy to bring him back at half that.

Please give us some names that Houston may get in return for him.

Appreciate you posting again adding the "speculation" part for "context."

Is Ariza a realistic option in a sign & trade scenario for George?

I understand not wanting to help west teams but I think it would ultimately be helping Ariza the “player”. We have really been so players favors a LOT lately.

Maybe not Toronto if Cleveland leaves and having OG but Milwaukee loves length. I’m also sure they are trying to take that next step and ariza could seriously help in combo with bud

If he (Ariza) can talk y'alls boy Ryno into retiring, you pay it. Otherwise, that's just not something Morey does. He's probably just trying to see if any other teams have any interest at all in paying him BIG bucks. Unless it's a 1 or 2 year deal, there's just not much out there. But this is the NBA. Vlade Divac runs a team. So you never know.

Milwaukee is considering to pay Jabari. They can't afford to pay both and if they choose to give such a contract to Ariza and let Jabari go they might as well resign collectively now due to the fans backlash.

Actually, yes. But that would be a lot of money tied up in Ariza and Roberson. And they would be in the LT I believe.

Future late 1st rd picks if we are lucky, tbh. Maybe just 2nds.

Really, doing a SnT is about helping a player get somewhere he wants to be that he otherwise couldn’t and extracting any little value you can by accommodating the team.

If I recall correctly, you can't package a sign & traded player with other players. So unless Ariza has a similar salary to PG, I don't think it's realistic.

If NOP bring back cousins and bring mitotic off the bench, then Ariza would be a great fit for them. IMO they are a couple of good shooters away from being a really dangerous team. But, I could see them going after someone who is a little more versed on offense. If they could get a good, offensive minded 2 guard 6th man and Ariza then look out.

    Rondo
    Holiday
    Ariza
    Cousins/Mitotic
    Davis

That's a pretty damn good start if you ask me.

The thing with Ariza is he's not great.
    But he's not bad.

Personally, I think the board generally overrates him because he isn't awful and is an "ok" versatile defender.

In a world where there are a lot of athletic 6'7-6'10 wings that can do similar stuff, not sure why we should be that disappointed in losing Ariza and his playoff underperformance... except for the fact that we have nothing to replace him currently.

i liked the consistency of knowing that when he drove the lane nothing good would happen, and i might even get a good laugh.

But then again he gets underrated because he is incredible with positioning, knowing where to be, having the ability to chase curry/klay and avoid screens and being able to sniff out plays and disrupt them before they begin.

That being said, his athleticism is waning and he has a ton of mileage. I appreciate and love everything Ariza brings but I won’t be devastated if the organization and Ariza split ways, although I believe it will make us worse

Most of these "FA wants this" stories don't even come from the players having said anything. Agents float this stuff out there to try to see who's interested and to set the stage for upcoming negotiations.

Would Trevor like 4 years @15M? Sure. But nobody's going to pay that to a 30-something glue guy who needs to be the 4th or 5th best starter to be effective.

Gonna miss Ariza. But honestly, we could prolly get the same production from a guy like DeMarre Carroll.

Totally agree - still a smart vet who can make a team better in stretches but he went from somewhat of a lockdown defender to ‘guy who makes his opponents work for it’ and that is only getting worse because of his lost athleticism. It would be one thing if he were a dependable 3pt shooter too but he is still very streaky. Also worried that the minutes and miles Ariza has put in over many extended playoff runs is due to catch up with him soon. In short we can probably come pretty close to matching Ariza’s output at this stage in his career without breaking the bank although personally I would love to see him as a 6th man if we had Lebron or PG13.
