This is the warhawk position. "If no Trump, then a war is gonna bust out! [coz Trump is gonna start it]"

Fundamentally, this isn't about Trump but rather about Kim Jong Un. The guy wants to be seen as the reformer who modernizes N Korea and the first steps he took were because of Moon. I think N. Korea sincerely wants to move forward as a nation and that is why they unilaterally took the actions they did.

So . . .. . Do you think Trump thinks Chavez (Argentina) was worse than Kim?

    According to Times magazine, http://time.com/5310082/trump-kim-summit-singapore-china-victory/,
China was the biggest winner, w the U.S. slowly losing one of its most critical security footholds in Asia, .towards becoming a more marginal player in Asia, much to the delight of Beijing.

For years, China has wanted tensions to cool on the neighboring Korean peninsula and for the U.S. to scale back its military operations in China’s Asian backyard. Suddenly, it’s gotten both; Trump’s concession is essentially the “freeze-for-freeze” proposal Beijing has been pushing for years, and which previous U.S. presidents had consistently rejected.

In a March 27, 2017 a UN Security Council meeting in New York on the escalating Korea crisis, China's propose representatives proposed “freeze-for-freeze” approach, for NK to freeze nuclear and missile programs in exchange for a halt to major military exercises by American and South Korean forces. It was rejected, within hours, by the US and Korea. “We have to see some sort of positive action by North Korea before we can take them seriously,” said Nikki R. Haley, https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/08/world/asia/china-north-korea-thaad-nuclear.html
    With China's commitment of $450 M to fund a Trump Co. project in Indonesia paving the way, Donald Trump announced the concession;
it blindsided US's Ambassador to the UN, the Pentagon and South Korea, not to mention Japan

Patents? A hotel in Indonesia? I wonder if it will bother South Korea that they were sold so cheaply.

That’s the length of the official statement signed by President Trump and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un after their Tuesday summit in Singapore. The statement largely aligned with pre-summit expectations: North Korea would work toward denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and the U.S. would commit to providing security guarantees for the heretofore rogue state. Many, however, viewed the language as overly vague and weak, essentially a concession to Kim. [The Guardian]

And now Democrats are doing the same thing. Clearly a two-way street.

This is absolutely stupid and from across ALL party lines. People pick and choose how mad they are depending on which party they like best instead of being bipartisan. This last election cycle has brainwashed so many that I'm very worried for a lot of this country. There isn't much critical thinking going on. Just headline news and talking points.

Six years ago, Republicans were blasting Obama for wanting to speak with Kim. Today Democrats are blasting Trump for doing what they wanted Obama to do. Why? The answer is quite simple...they just don't support that party so now it's the "wrong" thing to do. Pathetic.

Thank God for the internet. We can go back and see all of this and catch most of the flip-flops.

This peace thing is getting dangerously out of control. Hawks of both parties unite to discredit the summit --even as a first step.

South and North Korea: Handshake, Peace Talks Hurt U.S. Defense …
fortune.com › Finance › state of the market

Apr 27, 2018 - South and North Korean leaders shared a friendly handshake, waving away fears of nuclear war. Defense stocks such as Boeing slipped into the red. ... The S&P Aerospace & Defense Index is down about 4.3% since then.

    easy w the broad stroke

    today,
most Republicans are against this concession by trump; namely Marco Rubio, Susan Collins, J McCain, Sen. David Perdue of Georgia, Lindsey Graham, Cotton of Arkansas, McKlosky of Alaska, etc.
Obama did say that he was willing to meet w our enemies, but he did not have 100% support of the Dem; eg the two liberal Senators (Feinstein and Boxer), as well as Nancy Pelosi were in disagreement w Obama's position.
that's true only for the mouth pieces at Fox News, specifically Hannity and the so-called Judge Napolitano

they both mocked Obama for saying that he would meeting w our enemy, calling him weak.
yet, they both praise Trump---for looking presidential---w the Kim meeting http://thehill.com/homenews/media/3...mming-obama-for-talking-to-dictators-praising

Yeah so what is this suppose to mean? What I said is still true. Besides, what concessions are we talking about? Giving up the one or two major "war game" exercises a year (because the more frequent smaller ones aren't going away).

Nah, it comes from the mouthpieces at Fox News, MSNBC, CNN, Snopes, the IG pages running clips depending on the bias, etc. It's a collaborative effort.

I'm trying to imagine a world where Republicans would not have gone horse-poop-eating crazy if Obama had held this meeting and resulted in the same outcome.

    I am failing.

They would be going absolutely crazy just like the Democrats are now. It's pure madness.
