It is the most likely destination. Unfortunately people on the board havent caught on yet, the best odds are both lebron and paul George are going to the Lakers. They need to start thinking of what the backup plans are.
those odds mean little other than some likely destinations. people get waaaaaaay too caught up in these prop bets as if they're completely accurate. they're not.
Yah, definitely dont care about the prop bet. Its the most likely destination for both players if you take into account all of the facts. Lebron is going to LA, that is almost a lock at the moment. If the people on here want to believe the rockets have a chance thats ok, they just need to realize the lakers may offer a better opportunity for him, which really sucks. I want him on the rockets too. But i also am willing to admit that LA is just a better destination in the long term for him and for paul George. They can build that team the way they want. We are anchored to James Harden for better or for worse, which for Morey, he will have to live with as his legacy.
just letting you know that houston was not one of the favorites in cp3's prop bet last season. And we all know how that ended up. everyone has their reasons to believe said player is going here and there. And again, what outsiders/media want to make people believe drives these prop bets. you say LA offers lebron a better opportunity. for what? if its winning, i definitely dont agree with that. his best chance at winning would be in houston bc he won't find two other elite players at the level of harden and cp3 to play with on any other team
And we dont know what those intentions were on cp3s end. He may have come here with an understanding that melo was coming too. If that wasnt a possibility that was really good, he may have chosen a different destination. There are always multiple factors that play into it. I dont care about rumors and heresay when it comes to the lebron stuff, i just care about the reasonable logistics of the move and in my opinion, the lakers offer a better future if he gets paul George to go too, just like we would have offered the better future for cp3 with melo in the fray as well.
and that's your perspective. you say LA offers lebron a better opportunity. for what? if its winning, i definitely dont agree with that. his best chance at winning would be in houston bc he won't find two other elite players at the level of harden and cp3 to play with on any other team
Ok lets go through the facts then. If im lebron, i have two choices in the lakers and rockets. I have property in Los Angeles, and cp3 is a close friend that i have stated id love to play with some day. I have a family that is important to me that i would like to put roots down for. I have been heavily invested in media and am on the cover of nba 2k19 so the money isnt necessarily an issue, but i can get more years guaranteed in LA than in Houston in the event of a serious injury. The rockets are starpped capwise and will have to maneuver pretty hard to acquire my service should i opt in or the lakers can sign me and paul George to max deals with a little maneuvering of their own. In both cleveland and miami i have enjoyed having a say over the roster composition including role players and other stars added to the team. The lakers roster has young talent worth trading for if a team would like to facilitate a deal. Houston has significantly less trade pieces that would appeal to other teams. Now lets looks short term, yes the rockets offer me the best chance to win in the next season or 2. I have stated i would love to try to play in the nba with my son, which is a minimum of 6 years away. Chris paul missed critical games in the playoffs that likely would have changed the outcome of the playoffs. It was a soft tissue injury which dont usually get less frequent with age and james harden doesnt exactly shine in the biggest of moments. In los angeles, i can help facilitate deals for players of my choosing that may be better playoff performers as well. So yes i understand the arguments quite well. But logistically like i said. Los angelels makes more sense moving forward in more than 1 way. And i hate it too. I want lebron or George to go to houston so we can be the team to beat. I love the rockets. But i have to be realistic.
You know what else is a fact (to counter you "more years in LA "fact")??? I believe lebrons last 2 (maybe even 3) contracts have been short term player option type deals. I don't think lebron is worried too much about long term security in the NBA contract sense. He could tear his acl the first day of training camp and there would still be half the league lining up to offer the max next year. So that is BS imo.
Also, keep in mind he remembers how difficult year 1 was in Miami due to fit and figuring out a style of play with piecing stars together like that. He doesn’t have another year to throw away. Houston already has a style of play that is conducive to Lebrons strengths. Spacing, P&R execution, and shooters. Also, it was rumored he wants to play off the ball more and not have to carry as big of a load.
I just hope that if he doesn't come to the Rockets he stays East. If we can't get him, I think it would be most fun to see him in Philly but I have questions about how he and Ben Simmons would fit. He'd probably be best served to join the Celtics (and they'd trade Kyrie and keep Rozier), but I don't really want that to happen because they would be SCARY good. Loads of interchangeable talented wings and Al Horford holding it down in the middle.
If CP3 left Houston to be with Bron in La. Would he be the most hated NBA player by the Rocket fan base? I would have to think so.
There is going to be a fit problem with any new team. That is part of the process. But yes, if he wants to play off the ball more then Houston is an obvious choice. He gets to come to Houston and save his legs for the next few years.
