I seriously doubt you would ever understand and it is not something I am going to debate. The thread topic was why do Christians support Trump and I answered the question. Israel figures prominently into that reason. If you are curious I suggest you do a Google search.

As much as it does with the Ayatollah for Iranians.

Investing blood and treasure on Arab soil would be one thing for it's believers, but it's really American treasure and the blood and mental wellbeing of its young. I'm sure this election was framed in a way for them to "take back".

Nothing like brittle old men sending children to their deaths in the name of God and Flag.

It's not an issue of intelligence. It's an issue of subverting their own beliefs and morals to fight their culture wars. Might makes right, even for Christians. Sad!

Are single issue voters intelligent? I think not.

OP, I think many of our more devout true Christians would agree with me: the meaning of the term "Christian" has really mutated significantly over the last few decades. Many Christians today like to talk about Christ but only selectively imbibe his teachings and theology.

I go home to TX, go to church with my parents, hear the bizarro sermons, and I think: this has almost no overlap with the religion I was raised in. After church, I ask my dad if he sees any similarity, and he admits: nope. He, in his 80's, admits it's just bizarro world but he goes to maintain the community of it all, and I respect that.

Once Dems started supporting equal rights for blacks during the 60's, Southern racists moved from the Dem to Republican party. Those are the Trump supporters. The single issue really is race, nothing else.

I think the hypocrisy in this is the self-described Christians voted for and continue to support the least Christian of the candidates...

It seems to me that some of these Christians are almost saying there is one Essential Commandment: "Thou shall not commit abortion" There are 10 other Commandments which are to be followed as long as concerns about them do not interfere with the Essential Commandment.

Can I assume in your easily be morality it is ok to assassinate doctor who perform abortions or even have life imprisonment without parole or even the death penalty for women who have abortions s a deterrent? How about assassinating politicians who support abortions.

You are acting like there was a person running in the 2016 election of high moral character which is a false assumption. Both Hillary and Trump were despicable. Most Christians voted for the person who promised to push for the things that were important to them. So far he has actually kept those promises which will most likely earn him their support in 2020.

Most intelligent true Christians didn’t vote for Donald Trump. Evangelicals and those that are not really familiar with the life and teachings or Christ voted for Trump because he excuses their bigotry and deep seated arrogance.

When you still believe something made up by the people from 2000 years ago, you are not smart and very subjective to lies.

While I don't follow any religion, I do know several Christians. Most voted against trump, and the few that did have now figured out that voting for trump was a horrific mistake. It must be from living in Austin for 38 years. Heck, George W. Bush, a Methodist, at least while Governor of Texas (a very good friend of mine lived by Bush's Tarrytown area Methodist Church and attended it at the same time George did), wouldn't have believed in trump's actions before and certainly doesn't after trump taking office, in my opinion. At some point, I wouldn't be at all surprised if George makes a strong statement condemning trump's "presidency." We'll see.

It's pretty simple. Values matter to the right when it serves their purpose. They would vote for the anti-Christ if it would get some mexicans deported and deny black people due process
