There's no doubt in my mind that CP3 has already passed the dossier Morey created on how he can get LeBron to Houston.
We still need someone to take a 20 million dollar a year stretch 4 off our hands. That is the only thing would derail this.
I'm sure that's not as difficult this year as it would have been last year. One less year under contract and the Rockets can sweeten the deal with a first round pick. I don't think it would be hard to find a team to take that deal who is looking to tank and collect picks.
It’s gonna cost the same - but if it means Lebron, you pay. For perspective, Dragic cost Miami two first rounders too
Ryan Anderson’s contract is the least of the Rockets worries. The most important two things are (A) LeBron wants to come and (B) Cleveland willing to do opt in and trade. If those two things happen it’s just a matter of how many picks the Rockets will sacrifice to make it happen.
Sacramento... Say it with me... Sacramento. Just like LBJ will use LA or Philly to force the Cavs to trade him here. We get to use Sacramento the same way. Cavs will act like they have leverage over us not being able to move Ryno but once they know that Ryno deal is done they only get one 1st for doing the trade. I think they might take Ryno because they want the assets. They have other trades to make and want as many assets as they can get. We have a chance here to help them and reduce what we have to give up. Easy trade is 3 way, Sac gets Ryno. More opps with 4 way including OKC. They may want to dump other assets off on Sacramento and OKC. If we help those two teams there is a lot there for us. Remember the opt-in allows us to effectively conduct FA before everyone else. It also lets us target teams with cap space for trades before everyone else and that also helps Cle and OKC shed salary. OKC is stuck in having to make a lateral move. They will not want to let the opt-in on George go to waste if they can avoid it. I could be wrong but I doubt Melo plays for OKC next season with the trouble he would be. I believe SOME team will stretch/buyout Melo at some point. He might be able to be traded to some team to do that if enough MONEY changes hands. We have 5.6M and OTHER TEAMS have the same. Marley will know how to take advantage of this. We have three 1sts after the draft to use and we can use them wisely.
it'll be like with KD and Harden. Morey will likely know from CP3 what Lebron's decision is before it happens. That way, if Lebron decides not to come here, Morey can maneuver first before other GMs.
Lebron and clutchfans are similar, Lebron come here, cf also has DAILY CP3 Appreciation Thread http://bbs.clutchfans.net/index.php?threads/daily-cp3-appreciation-thread.288252/
Even if Lebron decides on not coming to Houston, he will at least let CP know first and the Rockets can proceed a different path early and not let the good free agents get away.
Right we'll know before free agency starts because the scenario has to happen with him opting in. With that said, it's not out of any loyalty on James part, just the logistics here. Lebron didn't warn Wade or Bosh when he left Miami.
the deadline to opt in/out is june 29th i believe. my guess he could make his decision as early as next week or maybe between june 20-25th... an extra 2 weeks for morey to do what he needs to do would be so helpful as opposed to. june 29th, just two days before free agency.
