Chris Haynes says "Houston is not a realistic option" but then says "Toronto is a darkhorse..."

    wtf...

Toronto is in absolute cap hell with huge bloated contracts for 2nd rate players who suck in the playoffs (DD, Lowry, Ibaka,Valanciunas) but they are more realistic than Houston?

    GTFO

Dude is obviously a Golden State troll... comes out with with two stories (Lebron/Ariza) just sh&tting on Houston's summer plans.... cool dude.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who has followed James throughout his career, joined the The Rich Eisen Show and said that while he has no clue where James will end up playing next season – and speculated that James hasn’t made the decision himself yet – there are two primary factors LeBron will consider above all else when picking an organization.

“I’m just going to say to you that the No. 1 thing for LeBron when it comes to choosing his next team is competition to win a championship.

I’m going to tell you that No. 2, and maybe even 1-A, is going to be the ownership. What is his relationship with the ownership? How does he feel about the ownership? How does he feel about the ownership’s commitment?

When LeBron came back to Cleveland, he did not meet with David Griffin. He met with Dan Gilbert. When he meets to make a decision, whether it’s to stay in Cleveland or go elsewhere, it’s going to be with ownership. Ownership is incredibly important. General managers and coaches and players change. Owners do not change. That is very important to LeBron.”

    __________

Jason Lloyd of The Athletic appeared on 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland to discuss the Cavs and James. During their conversation, Lloyd let it be known that he thinks the franchise might be “beyond” a big pitch to James once the summer rolls around.

“Frankly I think they’re beyond that,” Lloyd said when he was asked about the effort the Cavs will make to pitch James. “I don’t think there’s gonna be some big sell this summer, I really don’t. I think it’s gonna be ‘You wanna come back or not? This is home, you know we’ll spend money, do you wanna do this or not?’ And I think it’s gonna be that simple.”

Could Ainge trade Kyrie back to Cleveland for LeBron? That would be hilarious.

The report is already out. The only real question now is will it matter.

Honestly reading this I wish Les still owned the team... deeper pockets, stays-out-of-the-spotlight and a commitment to winning + very long tenure as an owner I think Lebron would respect... maybe he will like Tilman though

People here are going to want Ryno's head on a stake if we can't sign Lebron.

True and that's a positive Tillman brings (if they get along, not everyone does) but when LBJ looks at our franchise the fact Les was the longest tenured owner in the league + his deep pockets + his commitment to winning + having won previously would be something Lebron really respects and would be better for us in this situation.

Tillman looks more a...how can i say it, modern kind of owner? I'd say he looks a bit like Cuban in a way, in a good way i mean, he always looks genuinely entusiastic about his team and you can see he's a real fan that wants to win. Pretty sure that's a positive from a player point of view. Definitely better than the classic old man who wants to have the last word on anything, no disrespect to Les, just saying.

The bottom line in this example is the Rockets finding a 3rd team to take Ryan Anderson and then sending expiring/assets + Gordon back to Cleveland. I guess we'll see how creative Morey can get. Not just with trying to get LeBron, but also "the follow up moves" to replace the players that are traded. That will especially be the case if Capela is moved.

That’s going down as one of the worst signings in franchise history

I'm probably wrong but i think in the end, if the Cavs agree to sign & trade Lebron here, it would be either for three future 1st rounders or for a pick we would get by trading Gordon, and depending on how good that pick is, they might want another future one coming from us. But i don't think Ryan will be a big problem in this scenario if we send them the right picks. And i'm not really sure what would be better for us...three future 1st rounders or Gordon (which i can see having a 10/15 kind of value) and maybe a future 1st...

Te Cavs might sign & trade Lebron here for three 1st rounders or Gordon (a lottery pick) and a 1st/2nds etc...and Anderson to match Lebron salary of course.

Than they might trade Love to another team with unguaranteed money to trade, like to Indiana for Sabonis, 1st rounder, Al jefferson (10M unguaranteed) and salary filler/s.

This way they would lower the payroll by almost 20/25M, and would still be able to do some minor moves to lower it further.

    Well said @The Cat

    1) Consider the SOURCE.
    2) Apply CONTEXT.

    Every. Single. Time.

See my signature with what @cyberx said about Tilman. Players love Tilman.

Also, when Houston get discounted by national writers in the LeBron race, I feel it is more about the "logistics" of it happening. It is not as simple as the Lakers who "just have open cap space." I get that logistics is important. But with Morey, with his creativity and his courage, logistics are not as big a hurdle as they might be with other GMs.

Listening to LeBron's presser yesterday. Talking about "high IQ players", "needing stars", "defense", "smart organizations", "the need for multiple playmakers." Those are all signs to the Rockets. Maybe I am a homer in putting those items together. But it feels telling to me.

I agree the Lakers are a real threat, but you should read the Ringer piece on Boston. They make a very compelling case for Boston. They would trade Kyrie away for assets (cold-blooded, but then again so is Boston) and have plenty of assets to send to Cleveland. He would stay in the east and with Boston including Hayward, Horford, Tatum and others they’d rule the east. Add that to all of their draft picks and length and defense, add some min vet shooters and they can challenge golden state.

Look, windhorst is a LeBron hack. And Lebron knows it. Do you really think LeBron is going to give Windhirst anything right now? Nope. He's playing in the Finals. Everything he's saying and doing right niw is misdirection. Understand what time it is and understand what's at play here. And watch the narrative change after the Cavs go down.

It's technically possible, and they did trade IT (which was ruthless). Still...I have a hard time seeing Boston for whatever reason.
