I moved here from earthquake California to see the hurricanes. Don't have boat, so I had to wade...

I have a feeling that the Trump paid someone to write his papers for him in college.

I had an in-law in California that thought I should move out of Texas after Harvey. Then they had those horrendous mudslides and the wildfires. We have the best natural disasters here. The best.

    That’s how I read it.

Trump thinks coast guard = water rescue at sea = people must be on boat = why are they on boat during a hurricane. My best guess.

Doing my best to make an honest interpretation of : "Sixteen thousand people, many of them in Texas, for whatever reason that is. People went out in their boats to watch the hurricane. That didn't work out too well.”

For whatever reason that is -- he think its odd there would be more water rescues in Texas than in Florida (or Puerto Rico, but I doubt he even thought about Puerto Rico), not appreciating the fact that Maria and Irma were essentially wind events and Harvey was a flooding event.

People went out in their boats -- he probably heard an anecdote about one or two idiots and generalized it because he figures water rescues are done out at sea. We do always have a few idiots every hurricane that think it'd be awesome to watch it roll in at the beach, or go surfing or whatever.

Yea it’s crazy. I had tons of neighbors here in San Leon that took their small boats to Dickinson to help people. They weren’t “watching the storm”.

Everyone knows this, but the Governor of Texas doesn't have the balls to say it, instead he throws the people of Texas under the bus because he's afraid of the Alex Jones/Trumpian lunatic right. He did the same when he called out the troops to monitor Jade Helm just in case Obama wanted the US Army to invade Texas.

Majority of my neighbors are also “R” until they die. But they’re good people.

    For Trump...

Status of (the great) white culture and the fear of its decline. Obama winning shook them to their core.

So dumb of Texans to go our in their boats to watch a Hurricane - no wonder the city had so much trouble. Imagine if they had used the boats for helping people instead of watching the storm roll in. Everything would have been ok.
