I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he said he played with reoccurring back pain, which limited his drives to the paint because he wanted to avoid contact. His lack of pain tolerance made the Rockets more one dimensional when it really mattered because he ended up bricking shots when the game got tighter during the playoffs

Then he opened his big mouth and passive aggressively ****ed the team over.

Yao's an introvert too. I'm not saying they should be best buds but there should be an understanding. But all you see on espn is passive aggressive jealousy against the big fella. Gives more context to the "it's all my fault" rant.

With his play and what jvg said about his practice habits, you wonder if his back issues was just an excuse. Those injuries are debilitating but he'd still flip that switch on when it was time to play hero. Why didn't he do that during the off-season and the moments where no one noticed? It would've upped his ceiling despite his back.

Say all u want about Harden's vices and personality but his work ethic and drive is the opposite of Tracy's. You never feel like Harden is coasting, if only because people notice and talk. Tracy's appeal was effortless and his failures were because of injuries and **** rosters. Hell that first ballot HOF enables Tracy to believe it.

How many Rockets fans, let alone other fans, would **** bricks if Harden was up for HOF first ballot honors?

Haha, I thought the exact same thing.

Dude with a huge ego that couldn't help but cripple himself and his own team at some point in his career.

VC shoulda disowned him as a cousin.

Watched the documentary and although TMacs personality shortcomings are well known, didn't think he was a tool in the documentary. And he's not the first player to leave a team to become a star, nothing really wrong about that.

It's easy to celebrate genius, which we would probably all agree is a description that fits Mozart like a glove. I don't celebrate McGrady, though, because he isn't a genius. He had tremendous talent inside a body that broke down far too soon, and a weak mind, which has particularly exposed itself since his retirement, in my opinion. The fellow is an example of why winning a championship is paramount to having a legacy that stands with the greats of this game. It's why sometimes players will go to great lengths, even suffering humiliation in the attempt, to try to win one. "Just" one is enough to have a dramatic impact on how a player is viewed after his career has ended, and the players know it.

I think it's why McGrady is so screwed up. He didn't manage to get that ring and I think it haunts him. It's why Chris Paul came here. He is already viewed as one of the great point guards in NBA history, but Chris desperately wants that missing piece of his legacy. It's why he might, just might, take less than what he deserves. Sir Charles would understand completely.

McGrady is a walking Halloween costume. Haunted, and not real.

I see the media brainwashed the hell out of you guys during the kobe era. Tmac was the real deal, nobody gets that good without trying.

I won't say that T-Mac did less with more than any other NBA player, because they're are way too many examples that say otherwise.

However, it's not often you can say, "This guy would have been one of the 10 best players ever if he'd approached the game differently."

Imagine putting Harden's brain and heart into Tmac's head. Top 10 player ever in NBA history.

When talking about lazy T-Mac, don't forget his airhead cousin who tipped plays to opponents.

    Nah,

I imagine if we had Vince Carter that year Tmac sabotaged that trade with his surgery.

    VC
    Ron Artest
    Yao

    That would have been great

Ya it would have. Will never forget McGrady announcing his injury to Stephen A Smith in order to kill it.

Thinking back on those Rockets years, we really have been in a great spot since Harden got here.

I'd love to know WTF the OP is talking about. It kinda just sounds like salt...

How do you know he wasn't liked by other players? I never got that impression.

Know this would be controversial, can we keep a VC thread about Vinsanity himself? Great player. Shoulda been blessed with a title.
