NFL will fine players and personnel who don't stand for national anthem

Seriously. I think they should just cancel the idea of going to the WH. Especially since the next team to attend will be the Warriors again, and they won't go.

 

I support Trump’s decision to not engage in a photo op with the NFL champions. The less pro sports leagues have to do with the WH, the better.

 

I don’t like this type of excusing of pathetic behavior. Deflecting to “we should do this differently anyway” doesn’t change the fact that trump behaves disgracefully

Everyone will be eventually. Once Trump goes down this country will be in turmoil for certain period of time. Oh well’s everyone has to learn a lesson. There were no good options. But Trump was the worst one and it’s the buggest farce in quite some time that he is president in modern times.

 

Good. I don't think it should be a given that teams should get to come to the White House just because they won, it should be teams that deserve that honor only.

 

Pretty sure that going forward teams from the NBA and NFL will decline any invitation while MLB and NHL will accept.

I'll let others speculate as to why that will be the case...

Either deserve it, or you don't deserve it. If you want to make it a political statement, you don't deserve the honor. It turns out the majority of player on the Eagles were douchebags like that. It is what it is. I understand that your political ideology won't allow you to look at this objectively at the moment, I'll wait till there's a different president and see if your mind changes.

For sure I know most of this board would be up in arms if players refused to go to the White House when Obama was there....

It's situations like this where I'll have a consistent opinion, and the majority will base their opinion on who is in the white house.

 

I think we did have players refuse to go under obama and it wasn’t a big deal like this for one.

Secondly, obama never made it a point to attack players.

 

It was very rare and they were mostly dismissed as racists unless they pleaded it was a planned vacation etc and not political.

 

It happened, and those players were run down for their decision, there was only a few of them though. If the majority of a team refused to show over political reasons, you'd have the same people on here defending the players being the ones to go after them. It's just how it is.

As to Obama never attacking the players, you're right, he'd certainly never care about players or anyone disrespecting the country, he'd likely praise them for doing so because Obama never thought very highly of the country himself....but that's not the point.

 

Interesting. Honestly, I’m fine with every championship team refusing the WH trip since Trump clearly doesn’t deserve the honor of hosting them.

 

Trump’s behavior is pathetic by default. This is a drop in the ocean.

I’m more disappointed that it was Trump who called it off in the end, and not the team.
