    Well, the idea that he can unilaterally impose these kinds of tariffs is written in the Constitution as being only able to be put into place in matters of national security.

    So the Canadians who supply steel and aluminum for our military's fighter jets are a national security threat?

    Are you talking about the article from the Independent? I thought it was pretty interesting.

    I mean the whole thing, unfortunately, leads us to ask the gee whiz question again: if these new tariffs don't benefit the US, and they don't benefit our allies... golly, who could benefit from degrading trade between old western friends? Just can't seem to figure it out.

    Because Canadian steel goes to help build our military aircraft and other military equipment. That's one thing. The other thing might be that Trump is stepping beyond what is allowed since Canada is no threat to our national security.
