If Tilman goes deep into luxury tax, how often would you eat at a Landry's restaurant?

If Tilman will commit to going deep in the luxury tax and we get a true 3rd superstar added I will eat at a Landry's restaurant at least twice a month.

Some of his restaurants are good but Landry's is not one of them. 20 some-odd years ago I went there with my mom and I didn't have complaints. I went back with my wife about 7 years ago and maybe the management had changed, something, but it was pretty much just edible. "When did Landry's aim for Red Lobster quality?"

Well, yeah, thinking twice: maybe give to the cause. But Landry's.......hmn, Maybe Saltgrass. (Which is already a little overpriced for the portions you get, hence all the bread they throw at you, so if we get a superstar, POW! to the moon! with the prices).

I dig most of the places under the Landry's umbrella, but man are they overpriced. I don't like dropping $50 on lunch because of the ambiance.

Still, if this man drops the coin, I'll make my way out a few times a month.

Surely none of you think Tilman is going to lose money on his Rockets investment?

Hold for 20 years. Make a few million here, lose a few million there.
    Sell for 2x or more.

Sure, that's not a "great" return, but could be worse!

I already do occasionally. My kid loves Rainforest Cafe. Saltgrass is great. So is Babin's. My parents take us once in a while to McCormick & Schmick's in Uptown Park near their place. My kid would be dragging me to T-Rex every week if we had one here. Unfortunately the only one around is at Disney World(or whatever they call Downtown Disney these days).

@MRS_KILLATRON2000 and I go to Willie G's on occasion. Next time I will demolish enough oysters to give Clint the max contract.

Id rather contribute to the Rockets by going to Golden Nugget.

Tilman next summer: "Wow, my restaurant profits are up 10% this year. I need to focus on them and cut back expenses on the Rockets, because I'm losing buttloads of money on that team.

This sounds better to me. Tilman's eateries tend to be overpriced, regardless of which one it is. The "higher end" places, like Vic and Anthony's, are at least excellent eating, but again, overpriced, in my opinion. Landry's? A bump up from Red Lobster and, again, overpriced. I can get better seafood at a little Cajun place in Southwest Austin. Not a huge menu, but damn good and cheap. Heck, Papa's is a lot better. I wish they would open one in my part of Austin.

If it's a "requirement" that we eat at one of Tilman's places occasionally in order to get him to keep Paul and Capela, while adding a 3rd star, going into luxury tax hell, I'd eat at one once a month. I'm not that proud. ;)

I would think the restaurants aren't the huge money makers in Tilman's fortune - maybe from an asset standpoint they provide security and borrowing leverage but surely the Casinos are where he makes the "buy an NBA team" money. Ya'll should support THAT.

You mean buying Rockets merchandise from their store isn't good enough? If we do enough of that maybe NBA will think we are a big enough market to stop rigging our games.

Salt Grass is the closest one to me so I’d probably hit it up once a season
