    Are root canals necessary for impact trauma or like cavities? Bc I'm thinking he prolly got hurt when he took that shot to the face from Durant I think.

    Root canals can be needed after trauma, but it is almost always much longer after the trauma occurred (months or even years) for the nerve in the tooth to become necrotic and need a root canal.

    Sometimes the trauma can cause the tooth to become luxated where it is moved out of its normal position in its socket- then it might need a root canal sooner, but this isn't common.

    So it may have been related to him being hit in the face, but probably not.
