I’d take DJ if he agrees to take a pay cut. Other than that, I don’t think very many centers can fit in with our system and do what DJ and CC can do.

I'm so torn on Capela. On the one hand, he might be my favorite player on the rockets. He is one of the most important players on our team in the regular season. His skillset is crucial against every team in the nba...except the warriors. At this point, how valuable is a player who is HUGE against most teams but doesn't help us against the warriors? Replacing Capela with pretty much anyone else will surely make us a worse team overall, and probably result in less wins. But if it increases our chances against the warriors, I think it's a move we have to make.

I’d love DJ especially at a discount but how much? I cant see him opting out of $24 Million next year.

I'd rather keep clint if salaries were equal, but i'd also rather have KOQ or Dedmon at the MLE than max clint.

@saleem we were just talking about trading clint rather than maxing him.

This, I think people are selling him way short. He has a lot of potential, I don't think there is much of a ceiling on him with his soft touch around the rim and his footwork.

I tend to agree with you. And here's the grim way I see it.

It's pretty clear that as long as the league has more fancy or marketable or likable teams (whatever that means), that the league won't let us in the Finals. So, at one level, why are we already rearranging our deck chairs before our Harden ship eventually sails/retires/grows old? I mean... what difference will it make? As long as Silver is in charge, and the NBA employs refs with known flaws and known shady pasts, why are we going to agonize about our roster as if we'd ever be allowed to "beat" the Warriors.

On the other hand, I enjoyed watched the Rockets for most of the year, and Clint was a BIG reason why. His motor, his endurance, his savvy, his footwork have all improved. I have loved watching him develop, so to me as a fan, I would love Morey to sign him. His ceiling is not completely obvious to me, because he's already completely surprised me vs what I thought he would become.

TL;DR: Playoff basketball is meaningless in the NBA -- it's fairly fixed -- so we should sign Clint for regular season performance and entertainment.

I honestly believe the Warriors players fear Capela, I think Rockets need him to be in the Western Conference Finals for many years. His Hustle running and up and down the floor dunking and blocking shots is the best, No Center in the NBA is faster than Capela. Maybe Anthony Davis. Tim Duncan effectiveness was his defense for the Spurs for Many Years. Capela has that defense, now he needs to develop his shooting.

We really should try to match everything on Capela.

If he has to go for some reason, I guess DeAndre Jordan would be a good replacement.

Clint does things that don't show up on the stat sheet. His ability to defend the perimeter helps us tremendously on pick and roll situations and switches. He defends guards and wing players way better than Anderson did, plus he rebounds and can guard the paint. Dude could be DPOY in the next year or two honestly. If we let him go, we'd better get a big haul. Dude's a young up and coming player, who may or may not be a product of the system, but gosh darn it is he not fantastic in this system!

Ever wondered who fuels whos game? Is Capela still Capela without Paul or Harden? CP made careers for couple of Clints and he can make another one. Not sure if Clint can turn scrub into Chris Paul lol

No way id pay max to lob catching center who cant shoot ft

I believe he said he would take a discount to come back here during the season.

But I think this is our best route if we want to claw back some of our cap flexibility. The only problem is we don't fix the free throw issue. Also, shedding ourselves of the enormous anchor weight that is Ryno. His contract makes Atlas' knees buckle.
