Fertitta was mega-leveraged when he bought this team. I think only about 10% of the deal was cash. He may be cash poor, relatively speaking.
We’d have to throw in like 3 1st round picks. Im not sure Denver wants to rebuild either, they were one win away from making the playoffs.
If LeBron James is set on playing for the Rockets, it will happen. It won't be easy but the Rockets can make it happen.
Since everyone is asking. I heard from someone that would know. He hasn't been nasty about it, but my understanding is that he is open to a different role. Take it for what you think it is worth.
I love basketball (see my many threads on this subject) but what's the point of investing in an 82 game season if the end is always the same. It's broken and I won't give a **** about the other 29 teams until they fix it.
What kind of different role? He gets a ton of minutes as a reserve and starts at least a third of their games thanks to injuries or nights off for Harden and CP3. Unless he wants to be a full-time starter someplace else, it doesn't get much better than this.
That I don't know. Any answer would be speculation on my part. I was just surprised to hear that Gordon is open to moving on in the right situation. As an aside, these guys have been in each others business for the last 7-8 months. It is possible he or others will feel different 6 weeks from now.
I'm guessing he would like to be a full-time starter. Hey, that would make moving him easier. I like the guy and would hate to lose him like I was sad to see Beverley go, but if the Rockets can make him happy and get what they need in return (e.g., moving Ryan Anderson and getting a top player, too), it works for everyone
As you said it can change, nonetheless you probably want an upgraded version of Gordon, one with better handles. I am ok with Gordon staying or getting someone useful back. Houston has revived his career, those Nola days were not the happiest. Other than the Worriers or Celtics, Houston is the best bet going to the Finals. He might want to get paid in the 16-20 million range, that I think he won't get.
Gordon is nutz if he wants to be a full-time starter. Maybe it's coincidental, but the dude was injury prone most of his career. He suddenly comes to the Rockets where he plays fewer minutes as a reserve and he's able to stay healthy most of the last 2 seasons. Return to playing starters minutes(especially with him turning 30 in December) and those injuries could resurface.
I hear you. I'm just saying... will you actually stop watching the NBA?? Of course not. Will you absolutely stop watching and rooting for the Rockets?? Of course not.
I mean...i dont think that means he doesnt want to be here? After everything thats happend, how could that be true?
Cavs should've interest in a sign & trade deal cause on paper we could still dump Ryan with picks intead of trading them to the Cavs and actually get a good pick by trading Gordon into cap space. This is not a bad idea as a plan C imo, not sure Denver would do that though, maybe with two 1st rounders...maybe.
Realistically we may have to let Luc go.....try to sign Ariza on a cheap contract....and sigh maybe try and sign Paul George, thats one of the only feasible options i see and even then i dont know enough about the cap and payments and such to even say if thats possible.
I think it's probably not dissimilar for Pat Beverley. What's kind of crazy is that Eric Gordon signed for about 2/3 of what Ryno did. We got him at a bit of discount because of his injury history. It wouldn't surprise me if he feels healthy and wants to prove he's a 20 point scorer starter, as opposed to a bench microwave.
With the amount of trash that has been said about Melo i cannot believe that this is actually a feasible option, its sad we have come to this haha.
