Yeah, but the question is how the Rockets, who are without cap space, get Lebron. I'm saying I don't see a path.
Need 3 years to gain bird rights. With our cap situation, likely 2 years at the min or mle before we have any cap space to offer him a raise.
I think it’s all gravy aslong as we keep/obtain James Harden, Chris Paul, Pj Tucker, capela or deandre and then finally a third star of some sort. That core group you can work with. Hopefully EG will stay as it’s still the best team for a shot at the title abd hopefully ariza will take a pay cut and stay as well. Everyone else is obviously expandable but I think will attract even more role players this season We need more legitimate three point shooters that’s for sure, also guys that can actually create for themselves never hurts.
From his ass because there's no validity to that. EG I'm sure would love to remain a Rocket. Whether he does depends on whether or not LeBron wants to come here. As for the immovable Anderson contract, someone would take that off our hands. A rebuilding team. But it'll cost us at least a first rounder and possibly two. I would do that if we knew we could get LeBron. Short of that, I'd be very hesitant unless we could land two solid rotation players in his place who could immediately help this team next season. I'm fine with bringing back this core for another run. But certain areas of the roster must be upgraded. We need a reliable backup for Capela because Nene is too old and already can't play B2Bs. We need a 4th guard(assuming we don't trade EG) because we know CP3 will miss 20-30% of the season. And we need a backup 4 because Ryno is unplayable(and hopefully not here next season). Do those things and this team easily wins 60-65 games.
The thing with Lebron is the media expects Houston to be one of his closer destinations but he himself has not said a word. I believe it once he put Houston on his list officially. Not until then.
First thing first, resigned CP3 so we can attract Lebron. Capela we match no matter what. Rest I don't care.
We are a 3 Point shooting team without any consistent shooters. Would love to find a way to bring JJ Redick on board.
Rockets need to get younger at 3 important positions. Starting SF - Ariza as well as he tried to play, is giving us nothing as a starting 3. They must get veteran PG help (someone who can run the offense). They must Ship Ryan Anderson out of Houston...Note this was a position that Carmelo wouldve nicely fit...stinks that OKC ruined him as well. Hope you hit on a big FA pick up. Resign Capela...build around a young atheletic center. If the money makes sense resign Paul on a shorter contract.
Not necessarily true. Worst case, they could use the stretch provision on him and reduce his cap hit to around $8M. Not saying that they will but that is an option.
I think it's a no brainer to keep Chris Paul and try to lure another big time free agent like Paul George. I don't think Lebron's going anywhere and will stay in Cleveland. I do hope Gerald Green stays a Rocket.
Not too soon at all. As far as I'm concerned the NBA season is over and I'm not watching the same **** 4 times in a row. NFL gets a lot of **** and deservedly so but outside of Pats AFC dynasty (even they don't win them all) they get new champions. MLB too. NBA should just waive the 82 game season at this point.
Try to get PG13 if Lebron is out of question. We have to get Lebron if not then PG. After that we can deal with everything else.
I think there are 2 really key things to consider: #1 - CP3 is always injured in the playoffs. The only time he wasn't injured in the last 4 years was last year when they lost to Utah in the first round. Pretty likely he would have eventually got injured if they advanced. He gets nagging injuries during the regular season. He gets nagging injuries in the playoffs. That's just the way it is. And its not like he's young like Kyrie - who's also always injured in the playoffs. It'd be insane to give him anything close to max/supermax. #2 - Clint. I really really really really love Clint. Last night was his best game this series. He was still -13. Against the Warriors, you need Looney types. Clint is the way better version of Looney, offensively, but Looney is the way cheaper version. Granted of course GSW is way better at other positions, but they've effectively gone from Bogut to Pachulia to McGee to Looney. They pay these guys nothing. Someone will max, or nearly max Clint. Is that really the best allocation of resources in a GSW dominated league. Not that I have any better suggestions than to keep these 2 guys and try and add Lebron, lol. In an ideal world, you'd be able to add Lebron and Paul George even if it meant losing Clint/CP3. Because Lebron can basically play center against GSW, Lebron and PG are big wings that can switch on anyone, you'd rather have the ball in CP3's hands then Harden's but CP3 will inevitably get injured and Lebron is pretty ball dominant anyway. Of course if you can just get Clint to wait a bit, you could also then sign him and go deep into luxury tax. Hard to see them move on from CP3 though....
There was a rumor that LeBron's short list for this offseason included only the Cavs, Rockets, Sixers, and Lakers. And that he wouldn't come here if the Rockets won the title(which obviously is a non-issue now). Now you're right in that LeBron has publicly said nothing and even privately is reportedly playing things close to the vest. Personally, I can't see him staying in Cleveland barring some catastrophic injury to the Warriors that allows the Cavs to steal the title. Odds are they get their asses kicked again just like last year's Finals. And unlike last postseason where the Cavs went 12-1 en route the Eastern Conference title, they had to endure two 7-game series this time around and have a healthier Celtics squad and an up-and-coming Sixers bunch to contend with next year. Not to mention the Pacers who took them to the limit in these playoffs. The Lakers only make sense if Paul George joins LeBron in LA. And even that's risky. Does LeBron have confidence that the Lakers' young core plus himself and PG13(who didn't exactly impress in the Thunder's loss to Utah) can overcome the Warriors or even the Rockets? The Sixers could be a great fit except for a few caveats. First is the health issue with Embiid which is always a big question mark. Then there's Simmons' inability to shoot. That may not prevent Philly from getting out of the East. But it'll kill them in a series against the Warriors or Rockets where he'll be left alone on the perimeter. Which leaves the Rockets. And there are a few caveats here. CP3's health is always a tossup, especially come playoff time. How much the team would have to sacrifice to get him here. And that the West is a much tougher conference than the East. That being said, if LeBron winds up here and the Rockets only have to give up Ryno, EG, and Ariza and can find a replacement for Gordon, the Rockets will destroy the NBA next season.
Lol. The "problem" is that no matter how much you try to deny it, the NBA is stylistically one of the most fun leagues to watch. MLB is great when your team is winning. NFL is great when its on, once a week, for 4 months. NBA is just generally fun to watch. My recommendation would be to still be a diehard Rockets fan, but recognize it is what it is, find some other teams to watch/root for, and disassociated during the playoffs when you're ready... like now. I, too, am done watching the NBA this year. Not because I'm "angry" or "sad"... because I'm bored as **** with GSW/Cleveland, as most of you are. This year I watched Rockets, Sixers, Jazz, Nuggets, Lakers. I mean watching the Jazz and Lakers more than when they played the Rockets was hard at first, but what can I say, they had interesting players. I like Mitchell and Rubio and Ingles. I'm intrigued by Ingram, Randle and Kuzma. Also... I am in the minority, but I find "growth" years by average, young teams as rewarding as the years the Rockets have had the last few years, even though they've "improved" each year.
What about trading Andersons contract and a pick for Paul Millsap ? Bad contract for bad contract. He's the closest thing to Al Horford imo.
