There's rumors that DeAndre would take a big paycut to come here. If we NEED to let Capela walk to make it work salary-wise for LeBron, that's a serviceable replacement. Not as good but serviceable. Paul Harden LeBron Tucker DeAndre
anderson's contract will be the sole reason the rockets will not have a mega splash offseason. mauri outdid himself with this one. mauri is a wizard, but anderson's contract is like gandalf level unbeatable.
Anderson making 17 mil this year, 20 mil next year, and 20+ mil the following year is main reason Houston won’t be three-peat Champs. 20 f’ing million!
Damn, Google should work for you, too, right? Here https://pistonpowered.com/2017/06/12/detroit-pistons-stretch-josh-smith/ Scola was cut on a one time amnesty provision before the current CBA. The stretch provision can be used now, but the team still is liable for the cap space being used, just a smaller annual cap hit over more years.
Even after letting Capela walk, we're at $80MM. With CP3's cap hold, I believe Deadre and Lebron have to both come for the minimum. Not seeing it being likely.
Cavaliers are in cap hell regardless if LeBron stays or not. If he leaves, they're in full on rebuild mode. LeBron could opt in like CP3 did and the Cavs can take on Ego, Ryno and NG's.
I believe Josh was amnestied. See stretch provision here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_salary_cap#Stretch_provision Edit: Josh was stretched. Still on Piston's Payroll for 3 more years !! https://www.basketball-reference.com/contracts/DET.html
CP3 didn't S&T, he opted in to his old contract, and then they traded his contract. S&T have actually been made really difficult after last CBA for teams over the cap (which we are) https://www.hoopsrumors.com/2017/05/why-nba-sign-and-trades-are-rare.html.
You're right..... for some reason I didn't think Lebron has a player option....hopes a live!!!! But you think EG + Ryan are sufficient? Does that even jive with Cav's team timelines and goals? Why would they pay a tax on a team without Lebron? If I was Dan Gilbert, I would only trade Lebron to teams with cap room and draft picks. If he leaves for nothing, it's still better than getting 30+ year olds with luxury tax contracts back.
Assuming a LBJ opt-in trade and working above the cap, the payout for DJ would have to be tax payer MLE ($5.4m). No cap space or other exceptions to use. That’s a pretty steep discount but who knows
LBJ Opt in, only pieces (besides Harden) we have to match contracts are Ryan +EG. This means that Cavs, if they take the trade will still have to pay a large tax for 2 more years, for 2x 30+ year olds. Not sure this strategy is better than just let LBJ walk and start the rebuild honestly.
Would be awful for the 3PT shooting. Add Ryno in there. If we have DJ and LeBron we don't need Tucker starting
If a team has cap space for Lebron..and LeBron wants to go there....they'll sign him.......not trade for him. Don't overanalyze things.
