Interesting idea. I thought I respect the day the unarmed people of my country fought against the Russian tanks for the independence and I thought I respected the people who died during that day by the hands of the ****ing Soviets when I was still only a baby and couldn't do S-H-I-T. I certainly know it's not only gratitude that I feel towards them, it's way more than that. I have a lot of respect for what they've done and their sacrifice.

SMH, that's just not how that works. You are attempting to redefine what words mean and I'm just not having that. You can value inanimate objects or even abstract concepts, if a thing can be valued, it can be respected. It has nothing at all to do with that thing being conscious or being able to appreciate your respect, that's just something you made up in an effort to negate an argument you couldn't actually argue with rationally.

I'm sure you do it and you mean it 100% genuinely, just like I can talk to a wall all I want but that's not communication unless the wall is conscious.

Call it what it is. It's a superstition. No one has to respect someone else's superstition, as Bobby is asking of other people. It's no different than him telling an atheist to respect god. That mythical belief applies to him within his belief system only. When we are talking to each other as conscious human beings, we have to have a common basis otherwise we're just yelling at each other.

You can appreciate the past and learn from it, but to stretch the word "Respect" into it is just a total breakdown in common logic that underlines language and communication.

The difference of course is that a word like "communication" implies an exchange between 2 parties or objects, a word like "respect" makes no such suggestion. The word respect merely implies a feeling of admiration for something and one person can do that all by themselves, there's no need for a 2nd party.

Well based on your new definition of the word "respect" it would be impossible to respect a superstition wouldn't it? Apparently according to your definition respect has to be understood and appreciated by 2 sentient parties in order to exist. I mean, that's still a fairly ridiculous definition to try and pass off on people but at least be consistent with it.

That's ridiculous. That will not end well for the players.

This guy is a total fraud. Everything about him is a lie.

    0.0000000000000000% chance that happens.

Amusing how the party that despises political correctness is all for the NFL catering to political correctness.

So you were asking people to admire the past then? Nice. You f'ed yourself lol.

Like I said, you only respect things that can appreciate it. When you respect the dead or the past, you are assuming that this matters to some entity. Call it god or call it your belief system, it has no basis in logic when you are asking others to do it. You can do whatever you want.

I like how the recurring theme of "spoiled millionaires brats" has been programmed into trump supporters arguments on this. The same group that complain when people complain when tax laws that favor the wealthy are criticized.

Well, at least the trump supporters aren't saying "uppity spoiled millionaire brats"... though probably thinking it...

I seriously cannot believe that you are struggling this much with basic conversation. When you talk about civil rights heroes of the past, they generally ARE admired for good reason so when you compare legitimate civil rights heroes of the past to assholes of today you would be harming the image of those in the past who are actually worthy of admiration.....doing so is called disrespect.

You keep wanting to talk about God, but this has absolutely nothing to do with a God or a belief system, it's simply you failing to grasp the English language.

Now fine, if you feel like the actions of civil rights heroes of the past are not worth admiration, feel free to disrespect them....but since most people feel that they are worth admiration, they'll call you out for disrespecting those people. That's how it works.
