I believe Curry's first play back against the Pelicans he got a layup and one foul... then after the whistle stood and flexed in the Pelican's paint. You don't let someone like Curry do that without eating elbows the rest of the game.
They will blow load in first quarter(1st half). We have to keep it close and go at least tied into halftime. Watch the third quarter run - this is key and the ball game. Start the fourth Q tied or up/down two and we have a great shot at stealing game 3. I still think something is not right with Curry - keep attacking him and don't let him find his rhythm I think they will be nervous and will play tight. One or two early mistakes (turnovers) may cause a "oh here we go again attitude " and will play right into our hands. I think our guys smell blood. Like sharks that smell blood from 1 mile away.
This is a job for Gerald Green. He should be in there to make 2-3 quick transitions threes and collect 6 fouls roughing up Curry every time he touches the ball. Like you said, I'm okay with fouling out and putting Curry on the free throw line 10-15 times. It's better than letting him take threes. Throw him to the ground every time he comes off a screen trying to get open. Make him cry for daddy!
No matter how Kerr adjust, he could not hide the fact that Curry is their weakest defender and also happens to be the engine that makes Warriors go. Rockets can continue to hunt Curry on defense. Will Kerr have to sub Curry out to stop the bleeding?
Houston will demoralize GSW if they can come out with the same ball movement they had in GM 2. Draymond Green started to give less and less effort every time Ariza blew by him while closing out. The Houston offense is unstoppable when Tucker and Ariza are take advantage of ball watching and aggressive close outs.
That game(assuming it's the one I think you're referring to) was an outlier. The Rockets were coming off a B2B at Portland the night before. They actually led for a good chunk of that game and faded down the stretch due to fatigue. McGee would get destroyed by Capela inside. Kerr can't afford to play him. Plus there's always the risk he reinjures Curry.
Rather than say they came out "Lackadaisical," I would say it was more of a cockiness that they came out with...and we punched them in the mouth.
I'm dying to see GS play one of their bigs like Javale, Zaza and Bell so Capela can finally starting eating again
Ego as part of our own version of the "death lineup" makes this strategy almost impossible imo. Go ahead and double CP3 or harden as they bring the ball up and watch us feast. Just can't do it when all of harden, CP3, and ego are on the court together.
Simple u want to beat the rockets? U have to shoot n hit 3's. I can't bel3iv3 people.still aren't shooting more 3s. That's what equalized a team. No matter how good of a team u have on paper. If the other team is hitting 15 3s n u on hitting 5 u lost
Agree. We'll have to see if Capela has expanded his game to include catching the ball at the free throw line and making a good decision with it. In one universe, he's euro stepping layups and hitting PJ Tucker in the corner. In another, he's getting stripped and missing his free throws.
Protect Harden's head. It wouldn't surpise me if Kerr just got frustrated, or green gets frustrated and elbows start flying towards Harden's head. I wouldn't be surprised if zaza got some burn to do some dirty work. Make sure if pachulia's on the court we wear steal diamond sharpened cleets. If we are going to land on his foot, we need go through his foot. I expect game 3 to get physical and dirty on the Warriors end.
If you win by 30, not sure huge adjustments are appropriate. Only change I am making is giving JJ the minutes Moute was getting.
I would love for them to start 2 non shooters, Green and Lo0ney. That opens up the Clint/James game with Clint getting lob after lob or James miss using Looney with layups or 3s. Also, please let Green bomb away from 3, if he hits a couple PJ can push up on him. I still will take my chances with him shooting instead of Curry, Klay, and Durant. Please let that happen. On a side note, I just wish our Green would use his height and hops to stop drives to the bucket. If it's a jumper or dunk, he jumps to the moon on defense he maybe has a 20 inch vertical.
I don't think they will change much on defense. They will be betting on our role shooters not being hot like in Game 2. On offense,I expect thme to try to get Curry going. That's their key. We couldn't stop Durant. But Curry was completely out of the offensive flow. They need him to go off. We can't match their offensive fire power if their top 3 scorers are hitting.
if we bring the effort, attention, and discipline on defense again, it won't matter what changes they make. we will smother klay and steph and force KD to play 1-1. switching everything on D shuts down everything but 1-1 play. off ball screens, cuts, PnR... none of it matters if you switch 1-5. if our role players stay aggressive and attack on offense the ball will move. we may not shoot as well, but the movement will open things up. i expect at the first close game the series but it should be winnable if all of the above happens. if not, we may see a repeat of game 1.
