His answer to this question before was that “when guys like Paul and Lebron are in the cards, you say “yes,” and then figure out “how” later.” You never say no to Lebron.

Looking at Lebron left side and damn, Wesbrook didn't age well in these last few weeks

So would we have to gut the team for any max player like let’s say Paul George?

I believe it would be easier to sign George than Lebron because their starting salaries are somewhat far apart.

Easier from a cap standpoint but not from an incentive standpoint. PG13 would be leaving a lot of $$ on the table to opt in and S&T.

I wonder why this is never brought up when discussing his legacy. He's making a business decision to stay in the east, where he can dominate weaker competition every year. This is part of the reason he's always in the finals

Not really easier cap wise. We’ll be over the cap no matter what so if we are adding a star we will need help in a trade

    You’re right I didn’t think about that.

For some reason I don’t have a great feeling about adding a legitimate upgrade to the SF or PF position. While still holding onto Capela, James, and Paul.

Maybe I’ll be surprised. Perhaps Cousins signs a reasonable 1 year contract. To be able to always have one of Paul/Harden and one of Cousins/Capela on the floor. Would be pretty epic, even if for only one season.

Yeah I meant luxury tax wise. PG’s Lower amount would make it easier to hold onto Capela and the rest of the roster. Any trades would assume operating over the cap. But again he’d be leaving a ton of $$ on the table. See that happening less likely than LBJ.

Yeah it’d be hard if Capela gets a max offer. It’s doable but we basically would need to get rid of almost everyone else except someone for the tax payer MLE and vet mins. That’s still probably worth it but it would decimate the bench in order to stay under the tax apron which is what we’d have to do if it were a S&T.
