Those are ALL very legit points. And I agree. But we're already headed down this road. We traded for Paul, knowing his age, salary, etc. We could have traded for several other point guards prior to last season and developed guys like Boston did. Now we're down the road with a superstar in his prime and a second superstar on the back end of his career. It's the moment. And we're wasting time right now. Paying CC to hog down a third to a fourth of the salary cap makes no sense. We gotta go get another superstar. And that guy is probably LeBron. I think Danny Ainge is a genius. Love how he built the Celtics. The msn knows basketball talent. And he knows math. Morey knows math and he knows something about basketball talent. But he doesn't know talent the way Ainge does. And Morey has steadily undervalued good coaching, claiming in his analytical model(s) that coaching just wasn't a significant factor. While Ainge hires a young, future hall-of-fame church who is a basketball wizard. So we're on this course. And we can't hi back and undo it now. Gotta get it done. That means we gotta.best the Warriors and the Celtics. Because those teams are going to be there next year and the year after that. And Philly and Utah are coming. So our best course is to go get LeBron (still the single best player in the planet) and Demarcus or some other great 3-ball shooting 5 that can defend and some developmental second rounders who have a distinct skill set with at least one outstanding NBA skill (shooting, defending, passing/playmaking).
This road we have not gone before, remember Less Alexander prevented us from ever having a losing season...... The Harden trade also happened six years ago, in sports a long time ago. We needed several picks to build a bench and couple very good starters. I was never comfortable with Morey as one man show behind scenes and Les with his narrow vision. hope Tilman can mix it up. They are in dire need of a good assistant GM.
