This is a remarkable piece of data.

Basketball is a much simpler game than most people think it is.

When you get it going inside and you can get into the paint at will, then the defense has to pack it in. And against the Warriors that's a firing squad. Game over. Series Over. Season over.

That is crazy. This data does make me feel a little better with our chances though.

Well, 54 is high but clearly not our worst (having followed this stat for some time). We have to get this into the 40s.

Nearly impossible to guard Kevin Durant because you can’t double him when they have so many other stars. Also, our bench was garbage.

We got taken out of our game tonight. Harden letting Curry drive by forced unnecessary rotations from other players.

Basically, your flaws get displayed whenever you play an excellent team who knows how to exploit your flaws.

GSW forced us into four 24 second violations.. They were fighting over the picks and allowing us to get the switches with 9 seconds left on the clock.

We need to get into the sets faster to force the defense to converge early. It's not an asset when the ball gets kicked out to Tucker in the corner with 2 seconds left on the clock.

Give them credit for taking us out of our game. We need to run those guys off the three point line like they did to us. Don't let Klay go off and continue defending Curry the way we did (everyone outside of Harden).

Clint needs to stay in the game and so does Ariza. I love Luc and he played poorly tonight but he's not the reason we lost.

We were getting into our sets too late. It starts with JH and CP3. Come on guys - we can do this! We are amazing on the road and can definitely take a game or two in Oracle.

I completely agree. I don’t understand why we take so long to go from the top of the key to the top of the key. The advanced stats should show that no one scores in the backcourt.

There’s a fine line between controlling pace and stumbling into sets.

They forced those 24 second violations because Clint cannot step outside, create space, and shoot a three. There will be more of those possessions. And we'll finally have to ditch Capela for small ball lineups running pick-and-pop and five-out.

But it'll be too late. They already got the jump on us out of the gate and dealt us the death blow. We're in the process of slowly bleeding out now.

Is this stat accurate? Someone go watch the game and take notes. I feel like it's exaggerated. There was a hand near KD almost every shot. He just hit them.

    By defender distance

    Wide open shots 6ft+

    3s hou 7-13 GS 9-14
    2s hou 10-17 GS 10-15

    4-6ft
    2s hou 4-8 GS 8-12
    3s hou 4-14 GS 2-13

    2-4ft
    2s hou 14-25 GS 17-26
    3s hou 2-7 GS 2-6

    0-2ft
    2s hou 5-9 GS 3-5
    3s hou 0-1 GS 0-0

I don't really see a pattern other than W's being slightly sharper across the board.

Where they take the shots is missing the larger context such as how open they were or how in rhythm was their shot or lay up.

It's not where they take the shots.

    It's by defender distance

And do you see the massive difference in 2 pt attempts with 4-6 ft of spacing inside the 3 pt line? That's massive amounts of space and we gave them more of those opportunities by a decent margin than they gave us .

Somebody just asked what the basis of this very thread was about, an unverified tweet.

I attempted to look it up and verify.

That is all - draw your own conclusion

Here’s the problem of cheating off those specific 2, they are operating on the opposite side of the court. Draymond our in the left corner, iggy is on that left break and Durant is operating the right block.

Iggy is hard to cheat off because it’s in Durant’s line of sight. The only option we have, which is what we’ve done all year, is double from the baseline.

Capela/tucker have to completely abandon draymond in the corner. Now sure you would take that shot with iggys defender rotating or a pass to iggy and Andre taking that shot.

The problem tho, is draymond is going to attack the rim instead and look for a pass to finish at the rim.

You can double Durant from the baseline with tucker/capela and have iggys defender rotate and guard draymond but now you have iggy slashing to the rim.

You cannot double Durant off of klay or Steph.

The best method, is a perfectly timed late double team right when he goes to shoot, which tucker is good at and we seen it a few times. You then have to protect the glass.

Or, you just live with him making tough (maybe not for him) contested shots 1 on 1.

No matter how great he is at that mid range, it has a lower expected value than a shot at the rim or an open 3 from klay/Steph. We just have to defend the perimeter and other it’s better.
