I'm sorry but 4 defenders standing around is what the Warriors want. The Warriors make all the Rocket defenders constantly run around and a slight mistake in a off ball switch leads to an empty look or a easy cut to the basket. You need easy looks to beat the Warriors team and you won't have any when 4 players are just standing and watching the ball. I thought Dantoni was an offensive genius but honestly, a high school coach can draw up the Rockets offense. Remember that one meme play chart with Mchale that has Harden up top and everyone else standing? I honestly don't see a single difference.
Yup. Thanks. It was a meme with Mchale. It's genius under Dantoni somehow. The only difference is the absurd spamming of threes . I'm not expecting the Rockets to change this series . They aren't going to obtain and practice a new playbook in a couple of days. This is for next season. This season is lost.
I would have loved to see Rick Adelman offense with this team. The guy PREACHED player movement without the ball.
Why do people act like we're the 87 Celtics? It's a roster built around 2 guards that do the same thing & a bunch of 3+D role players. Warriors have 5 different positions that can initiate the offense, 6 if you count David West. It's the same thing with the Boston Celtics who are poised to be the next dynasty. And when their stuff is defended well they just throw the ball to Durant so he can bail them out. Also, the Warriors switch heavy defense shuts down a lot of our action.
I don't understand how some of Isoball 4 lyfe turds keep pushing it as 100% of the offense. I think we HAVE to use it at times with a player like Harden but there is no versatility there.
James would be even more deadly because he wouldn't have to work so hard for points. I don't understand why Chris and James don't work together on offense. It's ether one or the other doing work while the other is watching while not moving or nothing. That is MDA's job instead of waiting for James to bail him out with a 40 and 10 assist game. I been saying this **** all season.
Just because there are two elite guards doesn't mean you can't have off ball players set screens for players like Green and Gordon to pop off clean looks either at the three or running toward ls the rim while curling around those screens. That's how you get non superstars easy buckets. Instead we had EG taking absurdly difficult double clutch layups. There are ways to create easy buckets for the other guys besides spot up shooting .
Warriors were standing around watching KD do isolation on many, many of their possession. And he doesn't exactly pass much. You guys listen to too much TNT nonsense . KD draining iso jumper after jumper isn't Pete carrill.
I'm sorry emperically they lead the league in passing. You just remember the **** you shots from KD because they are more memorable. GS had plenty of easy buckets for their role players because of cuts or off ball screens.
MDA is a good offensive coach, but you need the right players to play that kind of game and we don't have them, Harden is not Curry and we lack good passers in the front court. What i'd actually like to see though, is Chris Paul playing the point guard in a motion offense instead of playing the same way James plays, i think that would give us another dimension and would maximize our potential.
Only an idiot thinks our Iso is suddenly a problem. The entire team was constructed to play this way, and it has been crazy successful Stopping the f**king OP Warriors is the problem. They won 73 games passing the ball around, and added the mosted gifted offensive player in the world as a failsafe, WTF are you supposed to do?
KD was doing it at times. We did it for every play. If you don't think that leads to predictability I don't know what to say. James is absolutely amazing in the ISO...but he's human and he tires. He can't ISO every possession, make plays, and play D.
We don't need Harden to run off the ball. I'm just asking for some cutting towards the basket from players like Green or Gordon off of off ball screens .
The difference with the system now vs when McHale was coaching is that we're introducing more switches to iso the team's worst defender to a favorable matchup. That leads to help defense and more rotations. Against most teams, this works well. It's tough to get this to work against Golden State. They are such a sound defensive team with good rotations. Their help defense is great, smart rotations cover the ball movement. Golden State knows this and have prepared. The ball movement needs to improve more than it did tonight. When the ball moves round, we should pump fake and drive instead of settle for the three like they expect us to. Ariza did well, and I'm glad to see him doing more if since the second half of the season. Mbah a Moute cuts well, but he had a tough time finishing. A second cutter would help, but the passing needs to be on point.
if the rockets played like the warriors the rockets would probably lead the league in turnovers. guys like ariza, tucker, and gordon are TRASH at dribbling and passing. the rockets don't have a draymond that could get 10+ assist at the PF spot.
The Warriors can put out lineups with multiple good defensive players. You want to try and beat them off ball with Klay/Iggy/Green all being some of the best help defenders? Makes no sense to try and beat their good defenders rather than continuing to attack their bad ones. The Warriors themselves aren't trying to go at Capela and Luc constantly, they're seeking out the lesser guys to attack. There seems to be this belief that if we just do something different it will work. The Warriors defend teams running lots of off ball action frequently.
We still have 4 guys just standing around. It allows the other 4 defenders to literally rest. You will never beat them if you don't force GS to make all their defenseds work. Off ball screens and cuts to the basket are needed. Standing around and watching the ball drubvle even in mismatches for every damn play will never work even if you are freaking LeBron James.
