Morey will never match that. Because Capela as a Sun, will have no lobs, and will be posted up more, and what shaq said hes not a post up big man. He will get exposed early and be vulnerable in suns system. He could be 10 Points 8 Rebs for that there, and many fans there will treat him like the ryan anderson signing, he could get bought out in 2 years max.

Capela's performance against GSW will determine his contract status with Houston. I would certainly go after Lebron as the first option.

Wtf does Capela's theoretical performance with the suns have to do with the Rockets? If he's an all star in our system then you pay him like one because if he leaves, your team has lost an all star. If the Suns max him and we don't match, we lose - regardless of his performance in Phoenix.

Can't wait for Clint to Mutumbo finger wag Oracle while they look on puzzled as to why they are losing and simultaneously purchasing their Celtics or Sixers jerseys.

Who gonna replace Capella if Rockets walk?
    That skinny chinese guy?

Don't think Rockets have anybody that can play good D and pick n roll as well as Capella.
Looks like Rockets have no other options but Pay!

After Rockets eliminate Warriors in 5 games, we can come back to this thread and laugh at some of the ridiculous comments.

You simply do not break up a 50-5 win core of Harden/Paul/Capela no matter what. There are tons of other contracts that can be moved, like Anderson's 20M, Gordon's 13M, or Tucker 8M.

Tucker is the best bargain. Don't move him. Gordon can be moved for cap space.

Ryan plus Gordon will get us close to acquiring Lebron, but that is hard to pull off even with an unprotected 2020 1st rounder. Go for Aaron, if Orlando doesn't want him on a long term deal. The only remote way of moving Ryan is to a lottery team with cap room who will take him along with 2 1st rounders. If Capela can be retained along with that, on a 15 M contract, we will be in good shape.

Why did Les Alexadnder sell the team, before this season started. Because he didn't want to pay Expensive Contracts. Chris Paul, Clint Capela. Trevor Ariza, Luc Mbah Moute, Gerald Green Contracts Looming. Tillman has said on video he will overpay for a Championship contender. I think he means going over Luxury Tax to keep the core players together, plus the bench.

That’s really what it comes down to. Look at what happened to the Mavs when they let Tyson Chandler go and Clint is younger and probably even more important to what the Rockets do.

If the Rockets want to continue to contend, he has to come back at all costs. If money is an issues for Tillman and he bit off more than he can chew as a new owner, the smarter option would be to dump Ryno this summer using draft picks which nobody will like but it’s better than not contending again next year.

I’m sure in Basketballhollics paid newsletter though he has some great insider knowledge of players available who are better and way cheaper since what Capela does is so replaceable.

I hope they pick up Ayton or JJJ in the draft and then they can forget about signing any free agent centers. However, there is a serious chance that they take Doncic with the 1st pick if they get since they just hired his national team coach as their new HC.

(https://94feetreport.com/the-94-feet-report-mock-draft-4-0-88b9a2ce1928) Doncic is the best prospect, but lets hope the Suns fall in love with a rookie big man instead.

We couldn't sign LBJ to begin with. Our only way to get LBJ is via trade, specifically one involving Ryno.

Because value was at an all time high last summer when CP3 was signed. Sure he could have probably made a bit more even if we flame out in the WCF but why holding on to the team with the risks of players getting injured or possibly not coming back next season?

This is my favorite comment and in which I agree most with:

"He’s also like 23, and averaging 11 rebounds a game. He’s also a defensive monster, and you can’t give Harden and Paul credit for that. He could end up better than prime DeAndre Jordan, and that’s definitely worth a max."

Capela may not be a Max player for many teams, but he is for the Rockets. We are in win mode, you aren't winning without a great center and Harden/Paul make Capela a great center opposed to any of the other options. You have to pay him.

He was always going to get paid, he's one of the best centers in the NBA and he's elevated his game in the playoffs -- that's a max contract. Did I mention he's like 12 years old and will do this for another billion years?*

    *assuming he doesn't get hurt.

    MATCH MOREY!

Capela is our real MVP! sign the guy up

without his defense and rebounding, we will barely get out of the first round

with him, we are a legit contender and he covers up Hardens defensive lapses better than anyone

This is not really it. You can always freely sign any free agent with cap room, without being hardcapped. Hardcapping is about use of exceptions and SnTs.

You become hard capped (for one year) by using the non-taxpayer, full MLE, the bi-annual exception or by doing a SnT whereby you are the receiving team. Teams over the Apron in tax territory cannot use those exceptions or do SnT. Therefore, if you use them when under the Apron, you get hardcapped.

You still get a smaller taxpayer MLE, regardless, which is what GSW used to sign Nick Young.
