Best road team in the NBA and winners of the last 2 tilts at Oracle, and possessor of the Ring Night Golden circlet of October...disagrees.
I predict that the rockets will need to win one game on the road to win this series. I feel like it's inevitable that warriors will win either game 1 or 2. After that I predict that the rockets win either game 3 or 4 and we go back to htown knotted up at 2-2 and the home team wins the rest of the games from there. That's why I predict Rockets in 7. We can't panic if we lose one of these 1st two games.
I disagree. They picked up players defensively to be able to guard GS and play that way throughout much of the game. They specifically wanted to be able to match up with that team when it came time
Morie specifically said you have to bring in defensive players around Harden and you get all the Team USA guys you can.
There's a difference between guys who are versatile and guys who are just straight defensive players.
I like where you're coming from, Will. Most of us probably think that there will be a split at home and a split in Oakland, with the winner being the one that can take the best thrown at them and stagger, perhaps, but still manage to take 2 out of the last 3 games. If we could, instead, eke out wins at home in games one and two, Golden State would be like the confident boxer, the champ, who finds himself knocked down in round two, badly behind in the count with ten rounds to go, his strategy in tatters, the guys in his corner wondering what went wrong. It would be the culmination of the effort that went into winning 65 games and getting home court. That's why you want it, and we should take full advantage of that hard earned edge. Two great teams trading blows, one left standing.
If our team really needs a speech to get us going against a team like the Golden State Warriors then we do not deserve a championship. Our team should be ready guns blazing to beat the living begeeze out of them every second of the game from tip off Monday. It's one thing if it were Minnesota and the Jazz but this is the defending Champs. Gotta have that urgency from the minute they step foot on that court.
i think they went through the motions sometimes against the wolves and jazz because they knew they could win. it cost them a couple of losses but those matchups were meaningless to them. this is the only matchup that they KNOW they have to bring their best. there is no going through the motions even for 1 play. they will look like game 3 in utah. to start this series, because this is what the whole season was about. everything before it was whatever to them.
They have been preparing for this moment. They have to preach urgency, but I agree that it is hard to trick the brain to think you are down a game or two when you aren't. Now they have to get to the point where they play in that do or die mode every night. To me the key is preaching the togetherness. Everyone in the rotation is mature and receptive to feedback, not worried about numbers, and willing to do whatever it takes as a unit. Championship teams have to get what Bill Simmons calls "the secret", the idea that it is all about the collective and I think this team gets the secret. I don't think either team will get swept, which means both teams will get punched in the mouth. It will come down to adjustments and how they handle adversity. I believe we have a great chance. I will be proud of the Rockets regardless of the outcome if they put it all out there and stick to the idea of "run as one", team first basketball. Go Rockets!
Damn, can't believe it. Nobody here hyping for swepting those ladies? "They ain't that good" is the right moment for James to speak before the game this time
Would not surprise me if they win one of the first two and we win one of the next two. It would be great if we can win both home games because I am confident we win one there.
I hear you. I think we could win the first two and then crush their souls and sweep it. Definitely what I am hoping for. That and a Donkey meltdown.
Ok, I'll bite. This would be great. However- don't you think that if we are so fortunate to go up 2-0 that the league will step in with some home cooking in Oakland. Like a buffet fit for a king to where you're like man--this shiit is rigged?
I am not saying it is super likely, but would be sweet. They just have to take one game at a time and I will take any wins I can get. I love rooting for a team where I like the whole roster.
