Why would it be an embarrassment? Disappointing yes, but GSW is still a heavily favored team with FOUR ALL-STARS IN THEIR PRIME playing in a system that maximizes their ability. It feels like you are just looking for drama.

If that were to happen it'd be way way less about the Rockets and MDA, and entirely about the entity that is the GSW.

Teams don't go to 4 straight Finals. I think they'd be the first since the 60's Celtics dynasty. They'd likely have won 3 at that point after this year, and you could easily say would have won 4 straight but for (i) Steph playoff injury, (ii) Draymond playoff idiocy, (iii) Bogut Finals injury. Even with all that came down to 1 shot basically.

Truly, for GSW, this is as defining a series for their overall legacy as anything. Obviously they are playing with house money already.... BUT... the difference between 4 straight Finals, going 3-1, with actually solid/reasonable excuses for the 1 loss, with indications of Klay taking a discount to keep it going, with them all in their prime, etc..

    VS.

Winning "only" 2 Finals in 4 years, NEVER winning two in a row to date, DESPITE having two players who will legitimately finish maybe top 10 all time players in their prime, one of the most versatile players defensively ever, an assassin of a shooter in Klay, a coach who ingeniously put it all together, and being the biggest favorite preseason to win a championship EVER for ANY MAJOR SPORTS LEAGUE in America...

and not winning a ring this year...

To me, if the Warriors lose with no current injuries, it's a pretty big indictment on them underachieving. 75% of the minutes in every game will be split among Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala. That is the definition of NBA INSANITY. The Warriors losing this series would be a bigger indictment on them, than the Rockets getting swept, imo.

Bear in mind, I was ok and in the trade Harden camp last offseason. But also bear in mind, while it stemmed from his playoff disappointments (regardless of wins or losses), it was equally and as much a function of the NBA we live in with the Warriors machine. That said, if the Rockets lose, you'd expect the team to be all-in on the Lebron train and give that a try...

I was going to say Les doesn't roll like that. But it isn't Les anymore. Don't know how Tilman rolls.

Don't think it would be at all rational to fire Dantoni after this season regardless of how it ends.

D'Antoni ain't getting fired if the Rockets get swept. But he will have a ton of pressure on him next season, especially if Capela is resigned and the team returns intact(aside from a few potential minor tweaks). There's just as much of a spotlight on him as there is on Harden and CP3 for past playoff failures.

The problem with Casey is that he has been in Toronto a long time and has struggled in the playoffs for years. His teams have lost a number of game 1's where the Raptors were favored.

The Raptors also were clearly the best team in the East for the majority of the season. Couple that with the Cavs struggling in round 1........ and being swept was just too much. This Cavs team isn't the Warriors. Some of this has to do with the Raptors having to fire someone and you cant fire the players....... but some of this was that Casey has a history of not making the best adjustments.

If the Raptors didn't have a recent history of getting destroyed by the Cavs, and Indiana hadn't just taken them to seven games in the prior series, Casey's job would probably be secure .

I wouldn't say Golden State is heavily favored. Vegas has them losing game 1. 538 has them winning the series. And the ONLY way it would be an embarrassment is if it is not competitive or if there are major coaching blunders. The Rockets were built for this. The GM has said so. If it seems that the only reason the Rockets lost is because they got out-coached, you don't think he will at least consider changing coaches?

Were the Cavs even favored ?

If so, it was shorter odds than GS over HOU.

Media was actually picking the Raptors to win.. unlike the Rockets.

You wouldn't say that due to argument's sake.

Warriors are heavy favorites despite what you're willing to say.

It's not just me. Even Vegas doesn't consider the Warriors as heavy favorites.

    From http://www.vegasinsider.com/nba/odds/futures/ :
ODDS TO WIN THE 2017-18 NBA FINALS (6/15/18)
    Team Odds
    Golden State Warriors 5/8
    Houston Rockets 5/2
    Cleveland Cavaliers 13/2
    Boston Celtics 30/1

Stop playing dumb and post the odds for Cavs-Raptors and GS-HOU.

There's maybe 3 media members picking the Rockets over Golden State... and one of them is only doing it for argument's sake.

Heatles also did not win the championship in their first year.
