Sarver ponying up big money in restricted free agency is funny considering how he is one of the cheapest owners the NBA today. For those wondering: He let Joe Johnson walk after 2005 in RFA He traded away Luol Deng on draft night in 2005 for cash considerations and a late 1st round pick the next year That late first round pick turned into Rajon Rondo, who he also traded for a second round pick and cash considerations shortly after drafting him He traded away Shawn Marion for the expiring contract of the equally expiring corpse of Shaquille O'Neal, because Marion would demand more money in Free Agency. He attempted to trade A'mare Stoudimire for JJ Hickson And he gets bonus points for blowing up a 48 win team after one year because they had the misfortune of playing in one of the best conferences in NBA history and they lost a bunch of games at the buzzer. And NOW he wants to throw 30 million per year at a guy like Clint?
Yes, you are correct. The Rockets can offer him a 5 year contract vs 4 years from any other team plus more money. I still wouldn't do that though.
Also, Capela is 23 years old and can guard on the perimeter........ of course teams are going to highly covet him. Why would a rebuilding team want him? I have absolutely no idea...... he is a guy that maybe puts you over the top but not a starting block. Then again the Suns are a really stupid basketball team so
did you think melo was a fool when he took the money in NY and rotted all these years. Having some of the worst times of his life. I'd be willing to bet that if he could do it over he'd take a little less to play for a team actually trying to win championships and have a better sense of being happy. but on the other hand he is extremely selfish so yeah i never felt sorry for him at all
No one will take him. Not even teams like the Hawks. His value is dropping rapidly every day, unfortunately.
Worth noting. New Suns head coach, Igor Kokoskov, was an assistant on Utah. And he just saw Capela beast in that Utah/Rockets series.
That would be awesome. I have nothing against Ryan honestly. I wish he was playing at a respectable level off the bench.
The suns are a bottom-tier organization and have been since Sarver took control in 2005. But I can see what they are attempting to build. The hire of Igor Kokoškov, whom coached the champion Slovenian National BBall team in EuroBasket, implies that the Suns plan to select Doncic with their pick. While I can see how Doncic can work out there, seeing how they need competent point guard play dearly, their other main weakness on their roster exists at Center. As a result of wasting high lottery picks on the likes of Alex Len (LOL), Dragan Bender (LOL), and Marqueese Chriss (LOL), they are still in desperate need for a C. Clint Capela at 24 would fit their timeline pretty well along with Booker (23), Jackson (21) and Doncic (20). While I don't think Doncic will ever turn into a top 10 NBA player, his abilities as the P&R ball handler are near Harden-esque. I can see why they would do this, but if Doncic is selected before they pick (when the bulls inevitably win the lottery again ), PHX would lose interest in signing Clint.
How is this even a discussion? He’s just flat out better than Capela. Embiid’s scoring alone makes him better than Capela, not to mention he’s a candidate for defensive player of the year and an all star.
