I think i can consider regular season w-l record meaningless not b/c of playoff atmosphere but because of time.

Say I beat your ass beginning of the year with my full team vs your full team, 3 weeks later i barely beat your injured ass team, 3 months later i beat your team again.

just because i 3-0 your team doesn't mean that I can confidently say I will beat your team in playoffs. Time and chemistry plays a role. Warriors that we beat in regular could be different than the warriors right now.

But yea i still think we can beat the warriors.

Funny thing the media mentioned today that the 1st game doesn't mean much or not good indicator since it's opening night, LOL gotta be kidding me.

The 1995 Rockets are the exception that proves the rule.

Of course the playoffs were a "different animal" for them. They changed 3 opening night starters and most of their bench to play small ball, including adding a hall of fame player in midseason.

Most seasons are not like this. Other than for the Cavs this year, it is not like this for any team still alive, and certainly not for the Warriors.

As I said awhile back, 75% of NBA champs are 1 seeds, which suggests a very strong correlation to me, and suggests that other than at the margins "Playoffs is different!" is all bullshit.

Remember a month ago people were using this "playoffs are different" bullshit to say the Thunder were a threat because they're "built for the playoffs" and were using the 1995 Rockets as an example?

    No they weren't.

Regular season success is not a guarantee if victory, ask Toronto. But over time it's a pretty good predictor.

Regular season record means squat. We have 7 games to win 4 before they do. This is going to have to be a bare knuckles fight from then Rockets every night to win it. We can do it, but it’s going to be hard.

Warriors have definetely been trying hard in the games against us. I don’t see why anyone would just discount the 2-1 series win in the RS. The loss came with harden out, too.

It's laughable when people say, "playoffs are completely different" or "regular season means nothing".

Right. The 3PT line moves to 30', no passing allowed, 10 fouls for disqualification, and lower seeds routinely winning.

Warriors nearly choked a big lead to the Pelicans last night, just like they choked that big lead to us in the season opener.

Some of y'all have convinced yourselves we have no chance against the Warriors. Why bother watching the games if you're already convinced that we're going to lose.

One thing that I tell my players before matches is "don't defeat yourself in your own head..."

Yes... for everyone saying "regular season doesn't matter", then why has no 7th or 8th seed EVER won a championship?? Clearly the regular season is very predictive of playoff performance, otherwise you'd routinely see lower seeds go deep. In reality, it rarely happens... In fact the Rockets were the lowest seed to ever win a title at 6.

They were 6th in the West but overall it was the 10th or 11th (same record as the MJ Bulls) seed in the league.

sure, I agree with the points you're making. I didn't say it means a ton, just that it isn't meaningless :)

Although I'm not one of those guys that thinks regular season is meaningless we have to remember that the team that beat Golden State 2-1 is not the team we see now. Anderson isn't there and we play way slower. EG also not delivering. I still think we're gonna beat them but let's not pretend we're the same team now as we were early in the year. That's not saying were worse because in many respects we're better. ie Tucker and Capela.
