Get the proper thread back to the top. He's not on the 40, so a corresponding move would have to be made to add him. I wouldn't rule it out. He provides full OF coverage, something none of the other replacement options can do. At this point I think I would make a better OF option than the K kings.
This would not surprise me. Alvarez may be a safer option at the moment as he hits the ball hard and often.
I only count 37 guys on the 40-man roster. I expect a couple of those spots are already spoken for though.
I think 1B is the best position defensively for him, we do have plenty of OF options. Alvarez at LF and Davis at 1B is how it should be.
Looking ahead, these are the guys they will need to consider protecting from the next Rule 5 draft: Myles Straw Garrett Stubbs Drew Ferguson Brendan McCurry Rogelio Armenteros Kent Emanuel Josh James Akeem Bostick Brock Dykxhoorn Riley Ferrell Trent Thornton Framber Valdez Hector Perez Jorge Alcala Based on how they’re currently performing most of those guys will need to be protected or traded. Plenty of room on the position player side, but on the pitching side I suspect we will see some trades.
At this point, both Rodgers and Gustave could be 60 manned, and Boshers is pretty expendable. There will likely be a 40 man crunch this offseason, but right now there's not much of a problem.
Brett Adcock @ Down East: 6 IP, 2 H, BB, 8 K Chas McCormick (4, 3-run) and Osvaldo Duarte (2, solo) have hit homers for Buies Creek.
Martes has been placed on the DL, replaced by Chris Nunn. John Sickels has a short article on Yordan Alvarez over at minorleagueball.com. Says if he ranked prospects today Alvarez would be in the 30s, up from 58th at the beginning of the year. Of the 4 projected starting pitchers for today’s Astros minor league affiliates, Cionel Perez has the highest ERA at 2.16.
Jonathan Arauz (3) and Mike Papierski (1) hit back-to-back solo home runs in the first inning of Quad Cities' game against Lansing.
Kit Scheetz allowed a hit and struck out three over three scoreless innings to earn a save in Buies Creek's 10-6 win over Winston-Salem tonight.
I can't believe this guy willingly allowed people to start calling him Kit when you have that last name. I've had a little while to get accustomed to it, and it's still weird. That being said, the dude has been f**king awesome so far. He's about to turn 24, I can't imagine he will be in BC much longer.
Great start to the season for Adcock. He's super interesting, don't know if he can stick in the rotation but he has electric stuff.
