So, this is really no big secret since if fans on a forum know it, the Warriors definitely are aware of it. What could they do to mitigate that?
And I respectfully disagree about both teams having "bad guards" on defense. Curry is one thing...but Harden is not a bad defender. He's been pretty good (and definitely respectably passable this season). He gets timely stops/blocks/steals and seems to have a better awareness (coupled with a willingness) on defensive.
they either stop switching everything or bring an extra help defender by leaving one of our shooters.
He's generally still a bad guard defender. As in, not a bad defender who's a guard. But a guy who is bad at defending guards. In the same way GSW fans will tell you Curry actually isn't that bad either. Cause he is a solid team defender. But we know where he's weak.
Well, they're not changing their offense. They might attack mismatches in ISO a bit more, especially with KD. It's about them defensively. So ... lineups and matchups. I think first they'll probably try and do something like put Curry on Ariza. Since Ariza is both generally useless as an offensive creator, and also not typically the pick man for Harden - he obviously prefers Capela, but also Anderson, or Tucker. But he will run a PnR with Ariza, too. We shall see... that's the interesting chess match!
Legit. They haven't beat us when we've been healthy. We're healthy right now. If it stays that way, then I'm 100% serious. I know they can shoot the lights out sometimes, but I strongly believe our defensive style prevents that.
I'm tired of people saying the Warriors are a big 4 just because they all were all-stars. Green's assist totals are a bi-product of Durant, Thompson and Curry being able to throw up shots within 2 seconds of catching it and draining it. He's not a playmaker by any means. There are two players on each team that are unguardable: (Harden/Paul and Durant/Curry). Thompson, Gordon, Capela, Green are above average players that would not excel as much as they have on other teams. With that said, both of these teams are products of their stars and philosophies and could go either way. But I will say I like Houston having Game #7 at home.
the rockets offense makes defenses make choices. you either guard man to man with no help (in which case paul and harden score one on one and around capela screens), guard man to man but ICE, trap, hedge, or double the PnR (in which case its lob city to capela), guard man to man and bring help (in which case you will leave shooters open), or switch on screens (in which case they will force you to switch your worst defender onto paul/harden and then play one on one. to be clear, teams have to make those decisions 90% of the time against every other team too. but the rockets have such good shooters, passers, and one on one players, that unlike every other nba team, they can win no matter what you decide to take away on defense.
I guess if we voice our frustrations we have to join the doubters club right? Would the warriors lose against the jazz at home? Do the warrior stars need to be reminded to come out strong? This is ridiculous man!
We lost one game. I think we still win this series in 5 or 6 games. Did you really expect them to 16-0?
Don’t be too disappointed if we end up losing to the Warriors in the conference finals. That team is an absolute jaugernaut and when healthy and playing their best, it is unrealistic to expect any current team to beat them. All we can ask for really is that the Rockets bring their A game and leave it all out on the table. Yes it will still suck to lose but at least you will have the peace of mind that no one else could beat them either. That said, the better team doesnt always win and that possibility may work in our favor, which would be a cherry on top. On the other hand, if we get bounced by the Jazz, then by all means be as pissed as you want bc that result would be epitome of unacceptable... but realistically, how many of you see that happening?
I watched all the games and even though I was pleased with the results, I also put into consideration that GS played the majority of the season on cruise control while the Rockets were playing to prove something. Also, the playoffs is another level up that the Warriors vets thrive for compared to the regular season. I said we would lose in 6, not that we would get swept, hardly an irrational prediction.
Gee I sure wish Paul was "unguardable" last night against the Jazz. All I saw was him bricking a bunch of mid range jumpers.
