his rotations are fine. Players just need to make shots and defend. It doesn't matter who is on the court, they have to get the game plan right
I say the things I say because it is backed by fact, and stats. If a guy scores 2 three pointers a night why does that make him a "shooter"? That is basically the net contribution of Anderson's 30 mins of PT last year, he is a 1 dimensional shooter who essentially contributed two 3 pointers. This year he was even worse, not even breaking past 10 pts and that's why he got benched in favor of Luc and Tucker. OTH you defend Anderson by relying on your preconceptions of his game and not what he is actually doing on the court. That is why I say your post has no bearing on reality because it is all in your head and not what is actually happening. Steph and KD are amazing shooters, they want the ball in Draymond's hands because Draymond has insane bball IQ and passing skills. He is half of the engine of GSW, if he has the ball in his hands he has all the options available to him whether that is a pass or a drive to the basket. GSW has 5 stars, it doesn't matter who has the ball that guy is gonna make plays, when we have Anderson on the court he is such a huge liability Draymond is able to take advantage of him and get off and that is why Anderson needs to be nailed to the bench. It's now 4 of 5 games Anderson has sucked, how many games do you need? If the Rockets get eliminated they are only gonna play 3 more games, are you gonna say that's still not enough to dismiss Anderson's career? Talking about his career, you do realize Anderson is a career 7 point scorer in the playoffs right? After his 0 fer games this season it might be even less. And last year he sucked throughout the entire playoffs too, had just 2 good games and one of those he was -23 plus minus. He is a career playoff choker and as we have seen in his performance this playoffs it's not really any different. 4-6 0-3 2-3 0-1 0-2 Anderson is the most inconsistent shooter I've ever seen that's why you can't trust him with such a big role as "the Draymond Stopper". How are the coaches supposed to make a game plan if they don't know whether Scrub Ryno or Road Ryno will come out? By the time they realize scrub Ryno is on the court the opponent would have already built a sizable lead and it's too late. That's why you see MDA give Anderson very little PT in games Anderson just can't be trusted. Ok how come no team was able to "stifle our shots and force us into mid range shots" prior to thre Spurs series? Is every other coach in the league besides Popovich just dumb as bricks? Or is it because Anderson couldn't hit the broad side of a barn and so there was no spacing on the floor leading to contested shots? The whole reason why the Rox stopped with the mid range is because it's not needed, you can't guard both the paint and the 3 pt line at the same time it's just not possible when you have 4 shooters and Clint Capela in the paint. It has everything to do with Anderson because he is the inferior option, he was a defensive liability and so horrible we had Ariza and Harden trying to guard LMA. If Anderson was a good defender how come it was Ariza trying to guard LMA and not Anderson? Now we have Tucker and Luc and even Green who are better defenders than Anderson. We already have Harden, Clint and Cp3 as the primary offensive option what we need are good defenders not defensive liabilities. See this is where your imagination starts taking over your sense of reality. What makes you think Luc and Tucker are not floor spacers but Anderson is an amazing floor spacer? Anderson 3 pt: 38.6 Luc 3 pt: 36.4 Ariza 3 pt: 36.8 Tucker 3 pt: 37.1 They have virtually the same rate this year, and that's taking into account Anderson's attempts are so low his FG% is meaningless. I'd take 1% less 3 pt shooting for a lot more defense. Do you have proof that Anderson's spacing is a lot better than Luc or Tucker? I always see this argument being posted but there aren't any stats that show that Anderson's spacing is superior. In theory if Anderson's spacing is better than his plus minus would be big because the team will outscore their opponent when he is on the floor but Anderson has the worst plus minus of our bigs especially here in the playoffs. It means either his spacing is overrated or he is such a defensive liability it doesn't matter how much space he gives it can't make up for his bad D. OTH Luc posted the biggest plus minus in NBA history if his spacing was so inferior how did that happen? I'm not trying to disrespect anyone I just want the players on the court to be the best players we have. This Anderson fascination seems so ridiculous to me he is just not a good player, not on a team that wants to contend for a championship. Even 1 bad game should merit being benched what more 4 of the last 5 games he has played. You don't want your entire season to depend on Ryan Anderson's shooting night, you want it to be decided by Harden and Cp3 that's why Anderson has to sit on the bench and you play guys who can hold their own defensively.
I wish Ryno was that good that Draymond has to extra guard him for major minutes. I would dare Ryno beat my team. We shall see.
What makes him a shooter? How about being a volume 3pt shooter his entire career making 38% for his career and specifically with Houston over the last 2 years is avg 6attempts at 39.5%. For context 12 players including Ryan have done that and all are stars or elite shooters. If your not going to consider him a shooter than it’s not worth debating. He absolutely is a 1-dimensional player, never denied that. He’s just elite at that 1 skill. I base my perception on stats and the eye test. Yes draymond is half the engine. He is a good passer with amazing IQ. But there is a reason we have adopted a switch everything every time defense and it is to specifically combat gsw. It limits their motion heavy offense and forces them into playing mismatches. Durant will get post ups I’m sure against cp3 ego etc.. but it also allows us to focus on defending klay and curry on 3s which are devastating. Again, we would prefer the warriors to have green drive to the basket to shoot or kick over them running their offense for an open Steph or klay 3pt. If draymond goes off and beats us, I would rather him beat us than curry or klay if given the option. Your recency bias is showing as you continue to look at his last few games after coming off an injury and not playing very many minutes. As for a playoff choker? That’s quite possibly true but lebron was a choker at one point. Harden and cp3 are considered chokers. Lots of players are called chokers until they aren’t anymore. Thats just silly to say he is the most inconsistent shooter you have seen. We have had players like Delfino and Lou Williams who epitomize streaky. That’s just bias showing against a player who has consistently shot the 3 ball a lot at roughly the same percentage every year. who the fuuck is calling him the draymond stopper? Far from that he is. What he does do it spread him to the 3pt line on defense if he is guarding him, but alas like I said he won’t be. Instead he will be on tucker in the corner and playing rover. He will cheat off tucker and play free safety on defense exactly like he is doing against rondo right now. Because he is too valuable by the rim to be guarding mirotic. They are forcing rondo to make shots because they need draymond inside. They will force tucker to make shots and he will have to make them the same. As for playing time and being benched in favor of other guys, that’s because they are better players. Plain and simple. Are you not paying attention? Teams have been all post season so far. We are gettting up a way less % of our shots from 3 than we have in the regular season. Against Utah specifically we are down about 10% points from our regular season 50% attempt rate. Minnesota forced the same. Ryan can’t hit the side of a barn Ego can’t hit the side of a barn Tucker can’t hit the side of a barn Ariza can’t hit the side of a barn Luc can’t hit the side of a barn No one is hitting the side of the barn so far this playoffs. Everyone is off and couple that with taking less attempts per game and we look less dominating. I don’t need a lesson on 3s and rim with regards to midrange I’m fully aware of the scheme and reasoning. Again, where is this Anderson is a good defender aren’t coming from? No one is saying that and your arguing an imaginary point. Ariza and harden defended lma because they were better defensive options. Green isn’t a better defender than Anderson tho they are both equally shiit but to greens credit he has much more athleticism and he doesn’t have any hesitation to shoot. Because historically they have not been great or even known as good shooters. Tucker is great his year(and the last few years) in the corners but he is putrid above the break. Luc has not always been a 3pt shooter and recently he has added that game but it is on low attempts. He is much more of a slasher. Ariza is fine but he still isn’t Ryan is quantity and quality. But he is clearly the better player, as is tucker and luc. I have no stats for spacing, I only have the eye test in regards to watch Ryan stand 3ft behind the 3pt line and where the defender is compared to where the defender is when luc is standing on the line. +/- is a great stat but it’s easily skewable by who you play with vs who you play against. Luc and CP3 has dominating +/-‘s this year but they often played against backups all year at he end of 1st/3rd and beginning of 2nd/4th. Again, luc tucker and ariza imo are all better players than Anderson but hat doesn’t mean completely eliminate Anderson and what he provides. Anderson has a role that can be very valuable against gsw. For instance what’s NeNes role against gsw? Not much tbh. Ryan as the backup 5 makes much more sense than nene. But tucker ariza and luc are also better options there but they have to play the 3 and 4 also. The 1 and 2 minutes are completely filled by harden/cp3/ego The 3/4/backup5 minutes need to be filled. That’s roughly 115 minutes. You can’t divide all that between three players. Gordon a few minutes at the 3, Nene a few minutes at the 5. Throw in green and you can completely eliminate Ryan from the rotation, But his skill set is and can be valuable as a stretch 4/5 against gsw. He is struggling and that’s why he’s getting small minutes. we are playing a 7 man rotation with a few scrap minutes here and there right now. When we run a 1/4 pnr with harden they are gonna double harden. It’s happened all season. Tucker isn’t good above the break and luc/ariza are eh. Ryan has been the only one to beat that double team this year and force the defense to guard harden 1v1 with their pf Disclaimer: I had to seriously edit and chop my responses, as well as your quotes to fit within the character limit.
