Maybe cutting off his arm with a portal was one of the millions of possibilities but somehow he ends up escaping and retrieving his lost in space arm and winning later on anyway. Doctor Strange knows the path but he can't tell anyone for fear of changing it even if it meant his demise.

That's what I think the answer would probably be if one asked the writers.

No. It felt shorter to me as I enjoyed it.

My guess is that the best victory is obtained by showing Thanos the cost. Quill's pains are for Gamora...the same as Thanos's.

I think the whole seeing so many different outcomes that were bad that Strange with the one that they win. That needs Tony to be alive which is why he gave up the Time stone in the first place.

As for removing the gauntlet and/or chopping off his arm. I am not sure if they will address this in the next movie but I think it needs to be a bit more thought out than just removing it. Ebony Maw when giving the Tessaract to Thanos mentioned how no one in history managed to wield two infinity stones at once. At that point the Gauntlet had four stones in it. I think it would kill anyone else who tried to pick it up or wield it. The power stone alone almost killed Star Lord when he touched it. I think if the gauntlet was removed from Thanos' arm at that scene having 4 of them on there may have caused more chaos and destruction than having it on Thanos' whose will can control the stones. At least those are my thoughts

Yes, stones will **** you up. But the gauntlet allows peeps to wield the stones. That's the whole point of the gauntlet.

Another minor thing that I don't really care about, but...
Maybe I need to rewatch (I def will), but Loki seems to introduce himself to Thanos. Shouldn't he already be familiar with Thanos? Wasn't it Thanos who gave him the tesseract and an army?

Sorry I was one of those who cheered when I saw Cap show up. I got a boner and now I'm confused about a lot of things...

Well, as long as you didn't do anything with your, uh, appendage; I mean, the film seems engrossing and all (I'm seeing it tonight), but someone in the theater might hear the FAP-FAP-FAP sound and glance over.

The question being, does that individual leave you to your own Infinity Gauntlet or alert the usher?

Familiar yes, but if you recall The Other was the one communicating directly with Loki in the 1st Avengers movie. From my recollection, they had yet to meet face to face, in person.

At least you didn't cheer EVERY SINGLE TIME some new group or person came on screen.

For us; see Cap (cheer), see/hear GotG approach (cheer), see Black Panther (cheer),
Thor's ax shreds the army in Wakanda (cheer)
... ok I'll give them that one, it was super badass.

But I don't feel all of those scenes deserved a cheer... and some even cut out from hearing some of the following dialogue... which was the most annoying part.

The first scene that cut to WAKANDA resulted in some (IMO) unnecessary cheering during my viewing.
