Pelicans putting Mirotic on KD was the 1st sign of trouble and I get why you want AD near the rim to get those blocks and intimidation, but at some point you have to try AD on KD. How did Gentry not know how to shut down at least some part of their game / strategy or did he? I didn't see it, they got whatever they wanted and smalls got switched onto bigs way too much as well as guys trailing the Warriors whenever one of them cut through the lane.

With Mauer's crew you knew they would blow the whistle a ton and man did the Pels get some ticky-tack fouls called while Green in particular got away with pushes and hacks across the arm. I still think the Pelicans can hang with them if they would play their own game and AD would be stop with those fade-aways.

Rondo did an okay job of distributing, but Holiday looked out of sorts and they didn't get Mirotic going at all. Have to be smarter. Pelicans winning the series is not going to happen, I've come back to earth quickly and think if the Rockets play iso ball all day then we have to make our threes or else there's no way we can even make it to 6 games.

Switch everything scheme is the only way to beat GSW, and then you need corner shooters to drag Draymond outta there.

Disappointing first game. I expected more from NO, they looked legit against Portland.

 

Then they sat for a week, you have to think that might hurt a team that is overachieving relative to expectations.

I totally agree with this. If the Pels are going to have any chance of winning a game, they need put Davis on Durant. No one else has a chance to even slightly slow him down. This was the one game they should of tried to steal but the game plan was whack.

I can't believe Gentrys game plan was to waste all his timeouts lol.

Pelicans disappointing in game 1 vs GSW. I don't mind them upping the pace, but.....

GSW had a 24-32 vs 9-11 FT edge. Huge.

And a 57-42 rebound edge. Huge.

Pelicans need to fix that ASAP or they are cooked. Those 2 elements were the ballgame, regardless of pace.

And the Blazers would NOT have faired any better.

 

What other matchup would you want? You think the Blazers would have been able to do better? I do not.

I am sure GSW looks at the Rockets and thinks damn, they got the Wolves with a bum Butler and now the Jazz without Rubio.

OKC turned out to be a trainwreck.

Blazers were pretenders

Bottom line, GSW has 3 (4) all stars and is just so good, there is nothing that can be done.

We just have to hope the Rockets are as healthy and clicking on all cylinders if they meet.
