What troop build up? Trying to occupy NK would be a cluster**** of incredible proportions. Millions of starving, brainwashed North Koreans thinking their god is under attack by evil Americans... right.
Meanwhile, North Koreans still suffering, but at least the rest of the world can relax for now, right?
revisionist theories much??? http://thehill.com/policy/internati...rump-deserves-big-credit-for-talks-with-north
Do you genuinely think that Trump had anything to do with the current president of South Korea who RAN ON unification and negotions with North Korea doing what he promised? The United States is the world hegemon. No matter what the South Korean President wants he realizes that for these talks to be fruitful, it needs the blessing of the United States. Moon relaizes that a man baby is the current president. Therefore flattering the current US president into mind ****ing him into believing this is "his deal" is the pragamtic approach into having US blessing. There was no chance of these talks under the former convicted felon President Park as she was ademently against talks with North Korea. She was as war hawkish as a South Korean would get. Let Trump believe this is his. Trump believing these talks are because of him allows Trump to be engaged and not sabatoge the talks. Moon and the rest of the world understands how to apease and get what they want out of Trump and it's flattery. No sane person actually believe Trump calling Kim "Rocket man" moved the bar towards peace negotiations. North Korean leadership HAS ALWAYS wanted a face to face photo op meeting with the US President. They want to be seen as a legitimate state by their peers.
Exactly. We still need to work to get some semblance of humanity at the very least. It is horrific. I would like it if the general malnutrition could stop. Place is a nightmare.
Your hatred for the man is so great, that you willfully spin this into a version of a fiction book you want to believe. Which think tank did you draw this fecal matter from? Trump has been incredibly tough against NK, even getting the Chinese to impose sanctions. Internationally, world leaders have all praised Trump for his stance and his ability to get a reclusive nation and leader to actually engage with South Korea and even started talking to high level US officials(historically significant). The statement I bolded is precisely what I know to be true...the bat-**** left hates the President and any bit of acknowledgement is quickly muted..."Trump is incapable...No sane person...Trump is being mind-****ed by Moon..."
Because he is. The fact that you don't understand that South Korea just changed regimes from a leader who was ademently against talks with Kim to a leader who ran on unification which is an entire 180 degree shift in paradigm when this is a negotiation between South and North Korea either shows how naive you are or how little agency you think a world power like South Korea has when they want to make decisions . Moon thanking Trump is nothing more than international diplomacy to allow a man child to feel involved just so the US can provide it's blessing because there is zero pragmaticism in the US current administration being hostile towards these negotiations. And labeling a man who has almost no individual merit and has been spoon feed all his success and never once had the motivation to intellectually challenge himself a man child isn't hating him. It's a matter of fact. Those are the conditions of the man. Stating them doesn't mean one haywa him. I pitty him and I pitty the fact that we have lowered the bar for the US Presidency to such lows.
The praise-dear-leader force is strong. If I'm a power-hungry Trump that is willing to do anything to maintain power, it's a win win situation. (yes, he is that). Set the expectation at a ridiculous level. Must denuke prior to the election or risk war. Claim full credit or wag the dog. My skeptical self said with Bolton and Pompeo, there is a good chance of wagging that dog. Here is the actual Panmunjom Declaration. US news mostly highlight the denuclearization portion. Also note the "disarmament in phased matter" (Which the White House reject - see below). First, what denuclearization means to NK In his meeting last week with President Xi Jinping of China, Mr. Kim reportedly committed to denuclearization. But when he does so, he is not offering to abandon the bomb, at least not without very big changes like the withdrawal of American troops from the Korean Peninsula and the signing of a peace treaty. He is terrified of ending up like Saddam Hussein or Muammar Qaddafi, two dictators who abandoned their weapons programs only to be forced from office. The White House have already rejected a "phased approach" (upping the expectation that both NK/SK doesn't agree to): Mr. Moon’s aides have argued that it is unrealistic to expect North Korea to simply surrender its arsenal without an “action for action” process that offers immediate benefits and builds trust. Early steps by the North could include the dismantlement of missile production facilities and allowing the return of international inspectors to nuclear sites, while the United States could begin normalizing diplomatic relations and easing some sanctions, like those that primarily affect North Korea’s population rather than officials, analysts say. Mr. Kim has also endorsed “phased, synchronized steps” toward denuclearization. But White House officials have repeatedly rejected the incremental approach, saying past administrations have tried it without success. And there you go, it effectively must happen prior to the next US presidential election: To prevent that, South Korea and the United States are trying to persuade North Korea to agree to a specific timeline for complete denuclearization: as soon as possible and no later than the end of Mr. Trump’s current term, in early 2021, according to South Korean officials and analysts.
Maybe maybe no I think it’s pretty hard to ignore the agreement between SK and NK but maybe it is easy to ignore.
So the crazy ass North Korean leaders have been wanting to negotiate this whole time but it was the level headed South holding the process up? China I'm sure is putting the pressure on North Korea and that can logically be traced back to Trump. Neither of these countries have changed course on their own
North Korea have offered pretty much every former president of the United States from the past 20 years for a meeting . You obviously do not inderunder one of the largest motives of North Korea which is to be seen as a legitimate state by the their peers. They always have wanted a photo op with the US President. And yes, Park was ademently against having talks with North Korea. Moon was vocal about uninification and having legitimate talks with Un. The change in leadership is the largest reason for the shift in paradigm currently.
I have no faith in the evil leaders of the DPRK but to say Trump did nothing is really pathetic. put pressure on PRC invited DPRK victims to SOTU Invited escapees to meeting in oval office While in Japan talked about kidnapping victims brinkmanship tough guy strategery the media said would result in nukes flying
You obviously don't know how much influence China has over North Korea. Yes NK wanted to meet with us. A) not SK B) Trump can't get credit for that Edit: Trump can't get credit for this if your argument is they want legitimacy through meeting our leader and Trump being willing to meet
The change in paradigm is 100% due to regime chance of one of the two parties involved from regime(Park) that has explictly desired no interest in meeting with Kim to a regime(Moon) desring unification and talks with Kim. Moon freaking ran on that platform. I mean do you believe South Korea, the party in this two party negitinegoti has no agency here? The regime change is the reason why there are talks. If Park was still president we would be in the exact same paradigm .
I promise I'm not a Trump supporter. One of the many policy issues I have with him is who he thinks our enemies still are like Iran. He is stuck in the 20th century. That being said he has done some good in foreign policy.
I believe there has been no paradigm shift. I believe these two statements conflict "100% due to regime chance" "do you believe South Korea...has no agency here" I believe Trump made DPRK a priority, has spent time on it, had balls to mention Megumi Yokota in U.N. General Assembly speech then met with those grateful parents who have been ignored for decades He said the USA will act alone on DPRK if China doesn't help. Here is an opinion on that from a DPRK victim
Trump play a part. China play a part. SK and NK play the bigger part. Anyone claming it’s mainly Trump or it’s not at all Trump is being ridiculous. To me, Trump play the part of a mad man that did turn out to be helpful. I doubt it was with foresight and I saw it as reckless. What the admin does next is what count and as much as you don’t trust DPRK, I don’t trust Trump and his two hawks. I believe their demands will fk up the process. Hope I’m very wrong.
