Last night our time, Kim jong un became the first leader of North Korea to cross into South Korea.

Today we have a formal announcement:

What says the bbs? Peace on the Korean Peninsula?

    Isis gone, Korea threat gone..

    45 ain’t so bad.

Bully the bully and he stepped in line.

In all seriousness, this is good news for the world that Kim is acting somewhat normal.

Excellent news on the Korean front. That is really a great thing. It is by no means a situation solved and all threat is gone situation, but it is certainly a positive step. Let's hope it continues.

This. It's a great first step. A LOT more to do.

Nothing to twist. It's a good first step.

I’m hopeful but I do worry that Trump is hyping this too much to setup a situation where we can’t walk away

It's also possible that this Kim is not as completely unhinged as his father and grandfather.

Based upon prior history, this is the scenario I expect. I would be more confident if it was Dennis Rodman negotiating rather than the Dotard.

But we had evidence to the contrary.

Everything about Kim made it clear he would never negotiate a real peace or give up nukes until a few months ago.

What changed? Well he did all his tests and now we hear he doesn’t need anymore testing and suddenly he’s willing to negotiate?

Yes...while I am still quite apprehensive of Kim, this is a historical achievement for the Korean Peninsula and I truly hope that the steps taken for peace remain...

American troops would never just leave...Dont know which military official would ever recommend that to the President. There will be a peace keeping military presence(either through the UN or a deal with China and the US to ensure that peace remains)

Well we know that President Trump has ignored the advice of the military already on Syria so what does that have to do with anything?

In general I agree with you, I'm hopeful for a potential resolution but I have a very skeptical eye. It's not about Trump for me it's about Kim.

I just don't get it. The only that has materially changed for him in the last several months is that he has successfully tested rockets that that could potentially hit the United States. Why is he willing to denuclearize all of a sudden? The only thing it took for him to get on board for denuclearization was to actually be fully nuclearized?

That's not twisting it. If you don't have those same concerns, then you have not been paying attention. There's a reason the Korean War had never been officially declared over. Trump has played a part in this but he's going to go into the meetings feeling like he's the one with nothing to lose. If he didn't think he was negotiating from a place of power, he wouldn't be in the room because he's not good enough to turn something this complicated around. Not to mention, you now have a NSA and Sec of State who both want nothing more than to blow NK (and Iran and anyone else that looks at us sideways) off the map. This is not over and I only hope that Trump doesn't f*** it up.

And even if he doesn't f*** it up, it doesn't mean that Kim won't just decide to start lobbing missiles if he wakes up one morning and steps on a Lego.

Yeah I've seen that as an explanation for why they aren't testing, but why the rest?

I think we should be VERY cautious and assume that this is a ploy.

As for the idea that maybe he isn't crazy like his father, let's not forget that his father embraced the South as well at one time and mislead the world into thinking he wanted a real peace.

Yeah that's a good point. Someone should tell General Kelly to make sure the Legos are cleaned up at night.

    Oh...you said KIM. My bad.
