I know its tempting to think this is smart because Harden already has max deals with rockets and adidas locked up for years, but I still think this is a bad move. Agents don't just negotiate these deals, they find them. They say hey, Harden why don't you endorse candy in Japan for $2 million? And then they negotiate exclusivities, manage overall brand, access...Yes, some of the nuts and bolts stuff can be delegated to lawyers, but you still need one person on your team that understands thoroughly what the lawyers are telling you, what to look for, and whether the lawyers are good or terrible. I don't think involving his mom is a bad idea, but she should be in a "momager" role. Her role should be to be in the room with the agent and make sure the agent always has Harden's best interest.

I hope it works out for Jim. I'm rooting for his mother to do a good job.

    I could be Harden's agent.

"Give him a max contract. Nothing less.

Oh yeah, and I want 10% for my negotiations."

Pretty smart, he's already set, he's basically paying his mother while letting her be more involved in his life as a bonus.
Saves money and makes his momma happy.
Pretty sure if the Rockets organization treats her well, down the road she might repay the favor, repairing any future conflict we have with harden (i doubt it but just in case)

Since his old agent got him the rockets contract and shoe deal won't he get all the money.

Only problem I have with it is that agents take a lot of bullets so the player doesn't take things personally. Morey gets into a shouting match with Harden's mama...

I don’t know. His mom has been the one consistent he has had, through what he will admit was a very violent and scary childhood. He has had basketball and his mom and nothing else. Harden has already made an insane amount of money and is locked into long term deals.
