The Wolves aren't a bad team. Just because we won't sweep them doesn't mean we can't win the championship. The Rockets still look the best out of all the playoff teams.
No argument on your first point. Only one team has swept their first round series. And it's the one sweep pretty much no one predicted heading into the postseason. I totally disagree on your second point. The Rockets look average at best(at least by their standards) so far through 3 games. The best team so far in the playoffs is the Pelicans. Second would be a tie between the Sixers and Warriors.
1. they have the 2nd best player in the playoffs 2. as far as wins is concerned on pels are the only ones better than the rockets. 3. only loss we have is a miraculous win by the wolves 4. as mda said "we were not even trying to win"
Lmao. I can't believe anybody liked this post lmao. So the raps are contenders, the 76ers are contenders. Or the warriors that couldn't beat a coachless superstar less spurs team is a contender. U people disgust me
The Pelicans are getting severely overrated. They got an absolutely ideal match-up. Credit to them that they managed to make the best out of that opportunity, but still, the Blazers matched up horribly with NOLA. As for the Sixers, similar thing... They match up pretty well with Miami, but they're just an average playoff team. Houston would wipe the floor with them.
What had the Celtics accomplished outside of one fluke conference finals appearence from Bird's retirement to 2008? Their best player only got out of round one ONCE. Their second best player struggled to make the playoffs during his prime.
The Celts were an unknown. Rockets have several KNOWN playoff underachievers. Is there still opportunity to re-write their legacy ? YES
lamo what? Both added a star player, and both were in their first year together. Paul Pierce MISSED THE PLAYOFFS the majority of his career, and of the FOUR years he made the playoffs, he was out in the first round half of the time anyway. Kevin Garnett made the playoffs every year from 1997 to 2004, and made it out of the first round ONCE. How are these unknowns?
This is my biggest issue - I didn't see DRose out playing Gordon so far in the playoffs - Gordon/Tucker/Ariza play well we win game 4 comfortably..
The obvious answer is, "collectively" they were an unknown in the playoffs. But I understand you're trying hard to defend the Rockets. Anyways, YES, Boston was ridiculed/doubted during that First Round matchup. They prevailed and won the championship. We'll see what happens this year.
I don't have a problem with saying that the Rockets players underacheived in the postseason, I do have a problem with saying that the '08 celtics, a team formed under very similar circumstances, were "unknowns" when they had all fallen short of a championship. If any of the star players from both teams had won a championship prior, the two teams would have never formed in the first place. Can a team full of "chokers", losers, and failures win a title in year one? Garnett said it best:
Yes the Warriors are definitely contenders I said nothing about the other teams on that list you mentioned. What's with people responding with things I never said on this board? lol Like in order to win the argument in your head you have to pretend I said things I didn't, lol. Have fun with that. I said the Rockets are not playing like a team that can beat a 4 all star + finals mvp team and im hoping that changes. This thing where you guys seem to be so shocked that I said that means either you're a homer or extremely dense.
