    Great post

We don't anything. We know these guys were asked to leave and actually sat there as the manager called the cops while never planning on getting anythingo

    From the Starbuck's web site:

It’s not unusual to see people coming to Starbucks to chat, meet up or even work. We’re a neighborhood gathering place, a part of the daily routine – and we couldn’t be happier about it. Get to know us and you’ll see: we are so much more than what we brew.

That doesn't say anything about not spending money

What do you expect a machine statement to say

We are happy taking your money for this overrated coffee. Please leave as soon as you finish

Yeah, it's called a study group. It happens all the time.

What has to be repeated here is that NO ONE is disputing an establishment's right to turn away soliciters or loiterers.

In the case of coffee shop, it's actually ENCOURAGED for people to meet there.

They could easily make wifi access timed or put up unwelcoming "Customers Only" signs like a Kwik-E-Mart, but they don't because it's purposely set up that way.

Your question of "how long" is dumb red herring because a) does your standard of "a long time" coincide with my standards...or Starbucks b) do we want them to put up an egg timer for every non-paying customer to prove that manager wasn't color blind c) Is there an expiration for when a paying customer is there "a long time" and should pay again to reserve not getting kicked out?

Or maybe Starbucks likes half full restaurants where people stick around long after their single coffee purchase because they want certain people to meet and gravitate there?

The unconscious bias training is so that "certain people" includes more groups.

On the study group you missed the point. There are thousands of clutchfanners. We couldn't all fit in Starbucks not buying anything. Simple point that didn't require a long ass response

    You overanalyze everything bro relax

It's HILARIOUS that people are so adamant about staying on certain sides of "black issues" that they would try to argue that Starbucks isn't regularly used as a place for people to go without buying anything.

I've got responses, but it feels like beating a dead horse at this point to post any more. I'm not surprised that some people would think the reaction was over the top. I'm especially disappointed though that we can't even agree that some small injustice was committed in the first place.

There is no injustice. All they had to do was leave. They weren't buying anything.

I understand the argument about the Starbucks culture but we don't know everything about the situation.

We know these guys are black but weren't asked to leave until trying to use the restroom

Sometimes on the phone I hit the word the keyboard thinks I'm typing without checking.

    Very bad habit

If only the argument makes some sense. I may disagree but I would appreciate some thought into the argument. Instead, too many times it's a display of such amazing ignorance.

I see we made it 1.5 pages before someone took the bait.

    Good job.

Why are you ignoring the reaction of people in the starbucks? Plenty came to their defense and claimed they weren't doing anything...

If these people were causing issues then why would random strangers pop up to defend them?

You say there was no injustice yet you also said you had no doubt this was due to them being black. Do you not see how those statements are contradictory?

No what I'm saying is the manager may have been more inclined to enforce the policy but the policy isn't racial
