Matt Thomas seems like he’s still stuck in the 90’s. Sigh....

I made a thread about this last season. He was so unique, man. Where is he nowadays? I remember last season he was PA announcer for Memphis

Les Alexander didn’t like him and wanted to bring back the championship vibes, hence why Matt Thomas was brought back.

The way he introduces “Nene” sounds GAY.

probably get some hate for this, but i never liked JPS' style. Too deep of a voice and would drag it out too long e.g. Jaaaaaaaaaaameeeeeeesssssssss Haaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrdeeeennnnnnnnnn...... for three *echo* for three *echo* for three

In general, I think in-game arena audio is so ****ing annoying. if i ran the league there wouldn't be any music or ''everybody clap your hands'' bs

That's not true. I think John got an offer in Memphis and he wanted to move back there.

This is probably something for Tilman to think about. All this copycat arena noise does nothing to make the Houston experience unique.

I would love for the constant barrage of noise and lights to be less overkill. It's so far past overkill if they reduced it a little bit it would still be overkill!

Let the fans cheer for a minute. Let the rowdys have their own time instead of them competing against the PA.

ANd like every sports arena in America, for the love of God....turn down the PA like even a little bit.

Um yeah it is, I know John Paul personally. The Grizzlies flew him out to Memphis every home game they had to be the public address announcer.

I am not going to put his business out here but he left the Grizzlies job for personal reasons and has always lived in Houston.

JP is the best in the biz. I like Matt Thomas on the radio, and he's certainly got that spirit of '94, but JP is tough to beat.

JPS was the best. Matt Thomas trips over his words, and just has weird voice inflection. His cadence when someone scores ("Nuh-NAYYYYYYY", "Another 3 from The Beeeeaarrrrrddd, CEEEPEEEE333333) makes it sound more like a high school basketball game than an NBA game.

JPS was awesome, but I always thought it was kind of wasting his talents to have his booming voice playing in a half-empty arena.

I think his slower, deliberate style also plays better on a grind-it-out type of team too. There's so much scoring in Rockets games now that his cadence would basically force him in to having no time to take breaths inbetween buckets and be constantly on the mike.
