Essentially the Rockets lost their tiebreak. Miami won the tiebreak for the first round, so the picks flip in the second round. Rockets will pick 46th instead of 45th.
We got that pick from Memphis when the Rockets traded away the 45th pick last year (for this future second-rounder). The first round pick this year was traded to LAC for Chris Paul. The Clips traded it to Atlanta in a three-team deal for a signed Danilo Gallinari.
Did the Rockets also get some cash? Not to nitpick these silly deals, but you'd think they'd want just a little kicker given the time value of draft picks
I don't think any cash was involved. The Rockets knew they were getting Chris Paul so they unloaded the pick for one this season.
Well... yeah. They knew they wanted to save as much cap room as possible. Just thinking it’s be obvious to get something extra for moving back a year. After all the Grizz clearly had someone targeted. Another random question. Do 2nd rounders count against the cap if not yet signed (is there a hold)?
Who is looking forward to the Rockets drafting a scrub C in the 2nd round in Morey's attempt to find the next Jokic?
Papa Nick would have fit right in on this team. Guy was a long hustle player, just too streaky from 3.
