We need to set up a meeting ASAP. He would make our offense lethal, he’s probably going to be motivated by being cut, and we have the cowboys on our schedule this season. We have cap space, we have a need, we are the only other NFL team in Texas. Our window is NOW. I know he is going to want a nice size contract, but I think getting him around 8mil would be a great deal. Anyone disagree? I can’t really see the downside
I think he was unhappy with his usage, and the cowboys dedication to Zeke, which obviously was the right call if your th cowboys. But for us, we don’t have an elite RB or a solid run block, so we will need to air it out.
He hasn't been very good since he stopped having Romo to get him the ball. If he came for fairly cheap, I'd probably do it though.
And that's part of why it would be a risk. His usage wouldn't be that high here either. Nuk is hands down the #1 on the team and that shouldn't change. Dez seems to think he's a #1 option when that doesn't appear to be the case anymore.
i agree with you. It's always a good thing to get more weapons for a franchise qb like DW4 but I think Dez might want to go somewhere he can get a lot more grabs. If he's cool with being a #2 then go for it.
The problem is dez is not fast, can’t get open and create separation. On this team, he would be the third wr option behind fuller.
I think that's probably true, but he'd be phenomenal in that role. His size alone would create mismatches and IMO he'd eat up the lesser DB's put on him in a #3 role. Like so many things, it all depends on if Dez has the mentality to put himself in a good situation even if it means taking a step or two back.
1. Not fast enough for this offense. 2. Complains about his touches. 3. Creates no separation 4. Drops everything. Pass
I say, sign him and put him in the slot. I believe the factor of getting back at Dallas will motive him. Granted, he a headcase.
if he willing comes here and checks his ego and is not paid like a #1 that hes not, I think a trio of him, hopkins, and fuller would be great.
Given Dez's personality (I'm sure he truly believes he's still a #1 receiver) I see him going to a team like the 49ers that would actually make him their #1 receiver. Also, while he is still a good talent and would make a great #2, I would be a little hesitant to have him in the locker room (given his antics in the past).
I would take a shot at him. Conditions would have to be right; a contract with lots of incentives. Let his performance do the talking.
