Yikes! Basically the offense continues to be a mess but the defense made good moves. Not sure how they offensive genius wasn't fired for this but that ship has sailed for now.
If I was in Gaine's shoes I would trade a future pick with a 3rd rd pick and get my LT. This would be mainly a draft to fix the OL and provide weapons for DW4 and the backend of the draft would add speed to the ST's Rd. 2 Tryell Crosby OT Oregon. Rd.3 Dalton Schultz TE Stanford Rd.3 Kalen Bellage RB Cal Rd.4 Joseph Noteboom OT/OG TCu Rd.6 Richie James WR Middle Tennessee Rd.6 Rashard Fant CB Indiana Rd.6 Jordan Thomas TE Miss St Rd.7 Ryan Nall RB Ore St.
All fell apart without Watson. They are not giving him much help. Has too be the worst offensive supporting cast for any QB.
A large majority of teams fall apart without their starting QB and a viable backup. And last time I checked Nuk is still here and still a top 2 WR. A healthy Deshaun and we have by far the best offense in the division.
The Texans were getting crushed by teams who were on their backup also (Colts). Just saying outside of Watson, Hopkins and fuller, the offensive talent sucks
The Texans also had a much, much higher than average amount of injuries. The RB core doesn’t suck, they’re just average and can be improved via draft. The OLine just doesn’t have to be the worst in the league to show improvement(especially with the fact that 2 guys who played significantly were rookies/we got rid of the two worst guys up front). TE is the most glaring hole and is an obvious concern but again we have more and better offensive talent than the Colts, Jags, and t***
But the OL is still very bad, the RB and TE are bad or unfilled, and the depth (like backup QB) is still not viable. That's all I'm pointing out. I think we're in agreement on several holes that are still left. Also, no guarantee the rookies on the OL will be much better.
Sure but the O line overall should be considerably better than it was last season....it's hard to see how they could be any worse honestly. TE is a question mark, but with Griffin and Anderson you can get some production out of that spot no matter what RB is terrible given that Lamar Miller isn't good when being used the way BOB likes to use RB's and he's too stubborn to change for anyone. They desperately need a power back with Foreman not really being an option anymore. Overall though, if Watson can be even close to what he was last season, the offense will be fine until BOB screws things up with his poor play calling.
It's impossible to have a good offense with a lack of talent. That's what made Watson's performance last year so amazing.
Maybe it's because even with that horrendous offensive line they had the BEST OFFENSE IN THE LEAGUE with Watson, now they get him back and have slightly upgraded the OL.
Even though we were way up in the league averaging 149 yards per game on the ground during those 6 weeks. Yea, he's too stubborn to change.
There is some question as to if he can keep pulling it off though. He is coming back from injury and there is some statistical evidence that suggests that the level of play he was at last season was unsustainable. That is basically just to say that Watson is coming into this season with some things still to prove.
I know where this is going. You blame BOB for 2 of the losses, I blame Corey Moore and the defense in general. Agree to disagree.
You named all the talent on offense. Also, don't expect much from Foreman after that injury and Miller was mediocre
Fair enough, and yeah, that's exactly where it was going. BOB shut down the offense because he felt better about putting the game on Corey Moore's shoulders than he did about putting it on Watson's....and we saw what it got them. The offense was killing it till BOB shut it down with his play calling and it ended up costing them the game and was part of the reason why the team was only 3-3 with Watson starting despite him putting up elite QB numbers.
