Really great to still win a series when our offense hit a rough patch. This is why this club was clearly gonna be good, this pitching just comes at you consonantly.

He pitched 2 days in a row, so Giles was probably emergency use only today. Still Peacock is certainly making a statement so far. Truth be told, I think making Peacock closer diminishes his value. I think retaining guys for one particular spot boxes them in, and doesn't maximize value. I felt the same way about Devo last season when he was dominating.

After 5 years of not really getting a chance for Stassi, he's finally getting one and he's making the most of it so far.

I worked with Milo.... you have NO IDEA.

They talk about people having skeletons in their closet.... well he had a graveyard and no remorse.

We're seven days into the month but most starters have already thrown 2 of the 5 to 6 games that they will be judged on for consideration for that award. So while we are only 7 (or 8, now) days into the month, the starters have already done 33 to 40% of the work that they will be evaluated on.

It's not too early to start thinking in terms of who is in contention for it.

I do actually know. Got to "hang" with him twice back in the day, he was slobbering on my gf the whole time. Knew Joe a few of the ABC13 sports crew and they all told similar tales. It was also totally obvious if you just watched/listened to the games.

Now Ashby's another story that I don't know about. Nature or Nurture?

75 through 6 is pretty good. Pretty, pretty good.

mid-May of last year vs the Marlins, Indians, and then the Tigers to be exact. It took them about a week to break out of it. But by the end of the month they were hitting like crazy. And capped it off with an 11-run inning on Memorial Day.

So we ought to have a lot to look forward to on April 30.

23 swinging strikes (and 10 foul balls) on 75 pitches.

Also, Andrelton Simmons has a great stat line: he has I believe 2 Ks & 1 BB on the season while hitting .360 and playing everyday.

I know we are a special team. Also baseball is not my area of expertise. But can this Shohei Ohtani highhandedly carry the Angels to a division title. I mean damn. homered in three straight games and is taking a PERFECT game into the 6th? This is NUTS

I was talking about the regular season. Of course, in the postseason it stands to reason that opposing pitching will be tougher. There were times in spring training when the Astros bats went cold but I wouldn't be tempted to make that comparison.

Now THAT is how you properly jinx somebody without outright jinxing them.

This guy is really impressive, worth all the money if he keeps it up.

Tyler White (eta: POTW Tyler White, not the rest of him) with the bat last year + I have no idea what pitcher off the top of my head.

It'll be fun to watch the Stros against him, Trout and that team. Especially if they don't improve the pitching staff at all.

not unless they make moves to get better pitching. and their farm isn't good so not a great chance of that happening. their offense is nice though especially if simmons keeps hitting like this (he won't)

Ah, The Bird, but didn't he get bombed early? David Clyde too?

    Maybe Kerry Wood? Dwight Gooden?

Fidrych was very good and solid early. Shaky in September. He had 4 complete games of 10, 11, 11 and 11.2 innings. He didn't have the strike out numbers but he had a lot of charisma.

I was just thinking about guys that blew the doors off from the get-go. No matter what they did after.

    Thus...Tyler White.

Also, I haven't seen any metrics on fangraphs about charisma. Yet.
