Saw it over the weekend with my 11-year-old son and his buddy. We enjoyed it - very fun for the kids.

I was surprised by the amount of profanity (including one F-bomb).

There are a bazillion 80's references, which most young kids won't get.

just saw it, was entertained, great success. so it's a kid's movie with 80s reference all over the place. even i didn't get a couple of them.

so how was art3mis in the book? they couldn't help but cast a hot chick to play a supposedly ugly girl. i assume she was supposed to be ugly.

the nerds must love watching it for the second time for the easter eggs alone.

The younger Japanese kid pulled out a glaive and threw it during the big battle.

They don't portray her as ugly in the book, she just has the large birthmark over her eye. In the book they touch more on the fact that she has a huge issue with self image and that she thinks she is ugly because of the birthmark. It isn't a major theme or anything it just gets more coverage in the book because they are able to use more space for it, with most characters commenting that it really isn't a big deal to anyone but her.

    Just saw this.

    Wow...way better than expected.

It was a wild goose chase the whole movie. Keeps you involved.

I saw this over the weekend and I really, really liked it. I had to distance myself from the book, which was sublime, IMO. Excellent standalone movie and I liked some of the story changes from the book (for the screen adaptation). Some of the relationships were a little rushed which was probably the result of trimming the screen time. All of the Easter Eggs were a blast to pick out. Great flick.
